Hi, my name is Nadav and I have been working as a tour guide in Berlin since 2002. I am a historian (focusing on WW2 history), however I also like to share my knowledge about what is going on in Berlin today. Although I was Born in Israel, I travelled with my parents, to Africa and Latin America, where my father worked as a civil engineer. Parallel to my studies (B. A. in Middle Eastern Studies and Political science and M. A in Security Studies) I worked in the Israeli Prime Minister office. In 2001 I decided to continue my studies (PhD) in the Berlin University (FU-Berlin). Part of my decision for moving to Berlin was the fact that my family origin is from Germany. Actually, if you decide to visit the Jewish Museum in Berlin, you will see a few artefacts that were donated by my family. Apart from Jewish Heritage Tours in Berlin, I also offer a wide array of other tours. Although I strongly recommend doing a walking tours, I can also offer a bike tour and of course - with a car. I have led many groups and private tours in Berlin, Potsdam, Hamburg, Dresden, Hannover and many other places in Germany. Sachsenhausen concentration camp Memorial - Licenced guide Prussian gardens - Official licence Guide Otto Weidt (Part of the German resistance museum) B.A. - Middle Eastern history and political Science M.A. - Security Studies (Military history) None.

Overview of your Berlin tour

The history of Jews in Berlin is as old as the city itself. On my tour, we will follow the Jewish history in Berlin from its early beginnings, through the destruction of this community once the Nazis came to power, until recent history and event. All of that, from the perspective of an active member of Jewish life here, with family routes in Germany. With me, you can learn about the early beginnings of the Jewish community in Berlin; see how it has got to be a beacon of the Haskalah Movement, the Jewish Enlightenment, and how Jews started to integrate into the society and felt part of it. You will experience the horrific stories of the Holocaust in Berlin, and how this community symbolically rebuilt itself. This tour can be done in 3 hours (if we only visit the "Jewish Quarter") or can be extended, so we can visit other Jewish related sites in the city.

Your Berlin tour itinerary

- See the remains of the Alte Synagogue, the oldest Synagogue in Berlin. - Stand in the site of Moses Mendelssohn's Home - Learn about the Women's Protest in Rosenstraße and visit the powerful memorial there - Stroll through the picturesque Hackesche Höfe (the courtyards' area) - Experience the amazing story of Otto Weidt and his Workshop for the Blind - Pass by the Jewish Cemetery in Große Hamburger Street and the former Jewish Boys' School (today Jewish High School) - Understand the significance of the Missing-House Memorial - View the Neue Synagogue (New Synagogue) ** The above is a suggestion. All our Tours are tailor-made and the exact itinerary depends on your time and interests. **The order of the sites may change depending on your selected starting point.
