I am an Israeli who lives since 1987 in Berlin, a tour guide and a filmmaker. I deliver the highest quality experience, making your visit fun at the same time. I combine an excellent grasp of Central European and Jewish history with a deep knowledge of art, architecture and literature. A day in Berlin with me is the ideal introduction to the complicated often conflicting world of historic and contemporary Germany. I picks you up in my van, and guides you through the Enlightenment, the glory of 19c Germany, the downward spiral of the Nazi era, the post war division then recovery and brings you to today. I am an Alumni of the film & television dept. of Tel Aviv University. As of 1987 I continued my studies in film and communication at the Free University of West Berlin. In 1989 I began working as a tour guide in Berlin and the area for individuals and groups. In 1999 I wrote for the magazine 'City Mouse' for Berlin, and through the years I have written many articles about the city. I guide the diplomatic staff of the Israeli Embassy in Germany often, relating special topics and including official guests of the Embassy - Ministers, Military Attaches, Members of Parliament, City Mayors and more. All my tours can be customized upon request, so I invite you to contact me. I am an Alumni of the film & television dept. of Tel Aviv University. Overview of your Berlin tour

The "Jewish Tour" is dedicated to Jewish life in Berlin before, during and after Nazi rule. We will first look at the beginnings of the Jewish community in Berlin, how it came about and how it gradually grew. We'll talk about the most prominent members and what the community was like in its heyday. In addition, you will learn about the influence of the Jewish community on life in the city. We explore together what made Jewish life in Berlin special and then also take a look at the darkest hours during the Second World War. We explore how this vibrant and peaceful community was suppressed and ultimately systematically destroyed under the regime of Adolf Hitler.

Nirit did several things we liked. First, she told us to go to the Jewish Museum on our own as we didn't need to pay her to take us through it. The day before our tour we did just that and learned quite a bit. Second she drove us to two locations we were completely unaware of. The first one was the railroad tracks where Jews were shipped off to concentration camps. Along the tracks were memorials showing for each day the number transported and the identity of the camps where they were sent. It was very moving. The second place was a memorial with statues of Jewish men married to non-Jewish women who were allowed to stay in Berlin, but under horrible conditions. A distance from these statues was a statue of a German man sitting on bench observing the situation, but doing nothing to stop the abuse. This depicted the utter disinterest of the German population to the situation.

We learned a great deal about Jewish history in Berlin. We visited many sites that aren't on the usual guide list. Nirit even did a search on our families, and found things in the archives that we were not aware of. After the tour, she continued to assist us by providing links to data sources and recommendations for us to follow up on.

Nirit provided an exceptional experience. She was impressively knowledgeable and very passionate. She focused on exactly what we requested, weaving architecture and post war history with contemporary modernism. Nirit taught us much, held our interest, and was delightfully personable. A memorable tour that we enthusiastically recommend.

Spectacular tour given by a real pro. Opinions? Of course, but this tour demands a both the objective and subjective points of view, and Narit gives both. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Berlin through the eyes of an Israeli pro. I highly recommend this tour.
