World War I 1914-1918 took place mostly in Belgium and Eastern France for the western front. The allies including Belgium, France and its empire, England and its empire, and United States, took part to win over Germany and its allies and end the war in November 1918. US troops where stationed East of Paris and the first American military action by Marines was in Belleau wood. Leave Paris to Meaux and see the WWI museum with its collections of arms, shells, airplane, trucks, uniforms and documents telling the history of the WWI, the process to the war, the forces involved, the arrival of the American expeditionary force, the evolution of the technology, the trenches, etc. Then continue to Château Thierry to have some free time for lunch and drive 20 minutes to Belleau Wood to see the site of the battle, the canons, the famous American Cemetery. Be back to Paris in the end of the afternoon. Not running Tuesdays as WWI museum is closed.
08:00 : Leave Paris towards east for 1h15 drive to Meaux 09:30 : See the WWI museum with its collections of arms, shells, airplane, trucks, uniforms and documents telling the history of the WWI, the process to the war, the forces involved, the arrival of the American expeditionary troops, the evolution of the technology, the trenches etc. 11:00 : Continue to Château Thierry to have some free time for lunch (if you wish) 13:00 : Drive 20 minutes to Belleau Wood to see the site of the battle, the canons abandoned by the Germans, the famous American Cemetery. 14:30 : Drive back to Paris in the end of the afternoon. 16:00 : Be back at your hotel.
