A walk in an old district of Paris spared by the Haussmannian plan in the 1860's, built by abbeys and convents at the end of the 1st millennium, invested by the aristocracy at the end of the 14th century, then abandoned when the King leaves Paris for Versailles at the 17th century. It is rich of its history, its civil and religious heritage, its museums today such as Carnavalet, Cognacq Jay, Picasso, the MAHJ, the house of Victor Hugo, the National Archives etc. You can find authentic as well as modern cuisine, art galleries and small secret gardens. follow the guide ! :)
Start with the Hostel of the Archbishops of Sens one of the last middle-ages building of the city, the village Saint Paul and its small hidden courtyards and secret passages, the walls of Philippe Auguste of the 12th century, the church Saint Paul Saint Louis that you enter through a hidden sideway, the Hotel de Sully giving you access to the magnificent Louis XIII style Place des Vosges and its House of Victor Hugo, the rue des Francs Bourgeois and its authentic shopping experience. Continue to see the Jewish district of Paris, rue des Rosiers, the Carnavalet museum and the National Archives housing the Bill of Rights written during the French Revolution as well as the original Metric mesure. Finally the Beaubourg Museum of modern art.
