Walk the Montmartre of the abbesses, the one of the artists, the millers, the Poulbots, the revolt of the Commune; the white hill, an old gypsum quarry that covered the facades of Paris since the 17th C; the jungle of crooks and prostitutes of the 19th century, which became the hill of the Impressionists, naïve, fauvists, cubists, the hills of vineyards and mills gave way to cabarets, balls and workshops. A village in Paris where we still can hear the zutists, the hydropaths, the poets rub shoulders with La Goulue, Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh and Matisse, Amélie Poulain and the famous film maker of the Nouvelle vague Claude Lelouch. Your Paris tour itinerary
Start with the square of the Abbesses, and the site of the crypt where Saint Denis the 1st bishop of Paris was buried after its martyrized in the 3rd century. Continue to see the 1st Art Nouveau church of Paris in 1895 Saint Jean of Montmartre, see the wall of the Je t'Aime, climb the paths and stairs to the Bateau Lavoir where Picasso and Braque and other artists invented modern art at the beginning of the 19th C. Then to the Passe-Muraille, the Lelouch theater, the Square Suzanne Buisson and finally after the Maison Rose of Utrillo and Valadon, see the last vineyard of Paris overlooking the lapin Agile oldest cabaret of the hill where Chaplin used to go for its evening drink and piano. See the Place du Tertre and its artists, the terraces of old cafés, St Pierre de Montmartre one of the oldest churches of Paris and finally the Basilica of the Sacre Coeur.
