Ghent and American Cemetery of WW1

A tour to discover the fascinating history of Ghent's medieval constructions and to pay honor to the American soldiers who fought and died in Belgium during World War One. We begin in Ghent which in the 13-14th century was the second-biggest city in the north of Europe (only behind Paris). The rich families of Ghent ordered to build astonishing stone towers and palaces to show their power. During the walking tour you will discover the medieval stories of Ghent. But also the traces of the industrialization in the 19th century, when Ghent became a major industrial center, heavily involved in textile manufacturing, earning it nickname of "The Manchester of the inland". After some time to have lunch, we will go to Flanders Fields American Cemetery. This cemetery honors the American soldiers who fought in Flanders Fields, one of the worst scenarios of the trench warfare of World War One.

1. I pick you up in Zeebrugge Cruise Terminal or in your hotel in Bruges. 2. I bring you by car (I have a Renault Megane Grand Tour) from Bruges to Ghent. 3. In Ghent, we visit the famous medieval towers, the cathedral, the impressive Grasslei and Korenlei (the medieval port), the stone castle, Belfort, Stadshal, medieval houses like Geraard de Duivelsteen and the Kleine Sikkel... 4. Then we go to Flanders Fields American Cemetery, where you will discover the stories of the soldiers who fought here during the Great War. 5. I bring you back to your hotel in Bruges or to Zeebrugge Cruise Terminal.
