Over 6, 400 statues, sarcophagi, coffins and crypts commemorate some of Argentina's most celebrated sons and daughters, not least Eva "Evita" Perón, in this labyrinthine city of the dead. The thrird most important cemetery in the world, because of it's architecture, scuptures, and the biggest collection of vitraux and stained glass in the open air in the world. Every cemetery has it's ghosts storys, and Recoleta is no exception. We are going to see Rufina Cambaceres's iconic tomb that was mistakenly buried alive; David Alleno worked for 30 years as a cemetery grave-digger, carefully saving his money for his own plot and a statue and then killed himself. Apparently you can still hear his keys jangling as his ghost walks the cemetery's narrow pathways at dawn. . . Lots of stories to be told, love and hate. . . . And after that a nice walk in the surroundings, share a coffee in one of our historical " Café" to comment our experience
This was an incredible tour. Mercedes is very knowledgeable and the cemetery is must see! So unique. She couldn't have been more nice and accommodating. Due to unforeseen travel issues, she waited for us very patiently and we started 3 hours late and then were able to customize some things about our tour.
Mercedes was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable about everything in the cemetery and had great stories and information. We had a great time walking around, even though it was a little rainy.
Mercedes is a phenomenal guide and has a remarkable gift of bringing the history, architecture, people, and stories of Buenos Aires/Argentina to life! Having heard good things about the Recoleta Cemetery, it was really a pleasure to experience it with her narratives which helped us really appreciate this unique cemetery. The love of travel and her enjoyment of getting to know people as they experience Buenos Aires is great and if it is your first time, or your twenty-first time to Buenos Aires, I believe there is something each would walk away with after her tours having a bit more appreciation for this jewel in Argentina. Cannot recommend Mercedes enough and appreciate her time that she guided us.

Mercedes was a fabulous guide with amazing historical and current knowledge. She went out of her way to get us to the El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore after touring us through the Recoleta Cemetery. Fabulous local tour guide that has lived in Buenos Aires her entire life!!
Mercedes provided an excellent tour of Recoleta cemeteries. She is very knowledgeable about both the history of cemetery and several notable people buried there, along with the various architectural features of some of the different mausoleums there. Truly a fascinating tour and we also learned lots of Argentina and Buenos Aires. Gracias, Mercedes, for a wonderful tour!
