We couldn’t have found a more perfect guide to Buenos Aires than Rosty. He led our group on a fantastic adventure through the city and completely transformed our impression of it and gave us a new appreciation for it. From ghost stories and fascinating tales of Argentina’s real-life heroes and villains among the tombs of Recoleta Cemetery, to the beautiful architecture and grand boulevards of the country’s Golden Age, to weaving our way through the food stalls of San Telmo Market, Rosty truly brought Buenos Aires to life for us — even through clouds and rain. What made the experience especially memorable was how personal he made it. Most of our group is originally from Ukraine, and Rosty spoke fluent Ukrainian and found connections between Argentina’s history and cultural stories that were familiar to those from there. Those little moments made the tour feel as though it had been designed specifically for our group rather than pulled from a standard script. And he is a storyteller in the truest sense of the word. At various points he recited Borges, Dickens, and other great writers with such knowledge and fervor that you couldn’t help but be completely drawn in. History, literature, architecture, food, politics, folklore — somehow he wove it all together into one fascinating story of Buenos Aires. By the end, we weren’t simply seeing the city differently; we understood it differently. Rosty gave Buenos Aires the character, history, and soul that we hadn’t yet discovered on our own. It was one of the highlights of our time here, and we can’t recommend him highly enough!
