Hello and thanks for stopping by ☘ They say time flies when you're having fun, and I still sometimes find it hard to believe it's been over ten years now since I embarked on my journey into the world of tourism. I've always been quite proud to be Irish, and remember the day of my very first tour, having a strong sense of wanting to ensure that the people I met would have a special experience and leave with a new appreciation of, and connection to Ireland. A decade on, and I still think this way. I feel very fortunate to have found this line of work, as someone who loves to travel I understand the power of creating lasting memories when abroad. To be a part of that holiday/vacation experience for others when they come here I believe is a true honour. I'm genuinely curious to meet and connect with new people, I love history and storytelling, I am passionate about what I do. I come from quite a stereotypical Irish catholic background. My grandmother on my mother's side had 11 children. It was a different world back then; my grandmother grew up in rural Wicklow where horses and carts were more commonly seen than cars. If someone was ill in the community you'd call the priest before you'd call the doctor as chances were the doctor couldn't do much for you anyway. It was a tough upbringing for my mother but man, was it a fun environment for us grandchildren! I remember as a child going to my grandmother's house on a Sunday, where my uncles would take over the living room. Regularly the topic of conversation would turn to Irish history, culture, or politics, and the tiny living room would transform into a live theatre. If you wanted the floor (and I did) you had to have something interesting to bring to the table - it either had to be historically or culturally relevant, or funny. I guess I wasn't aware at the time that these surroundings were shaping me for the role in public speaking I would find myself in later on in life. I am very much influenced by my father too, he was a tour guide before I was. After a solid 27 year career in aviation, he decided to try his hand at something new. Not long later he was driving an amphibious WWII DUKW around the city streets before plunging it into Dublin's canals with 28 roaring honorary Vikings behind him for a living. He maintains to this day it was the best job he's ever had, and says that the parents were always bigger kids than the kids were. I learned from him the importance of making tours FUN. Still now, semi-retired, he drives coaches for the OPW (government branch of the tourism industry) out around the jewel of Ireland's ancient east, Newgrange. So I suppose it runs in the family! Throughout the years I have done coach tours myself, from the medieval city of Kilkenny, to the monastic sites and lakes of Glendalough, out to the breath-taking and iconic Cliffs of Moher, and more. Nowadays I stick mainly to walking tours around the city here where I am based, although I do love to show off my local fishing village of Howth, and of course the world famous pub scene we have here too. Across all these different types of tours I have been incredibly lucky to have received some phenomenal feedback in the form of countless glowing reviews across many platforms online. I am humbled when I read some of the heart-warming sentiment used by guests to describe my tours. It encourages me to continue to do what I do, make my tours fun, and create more magic moments and trip highlights in the future.
