The dramatic events of September 11, 2001, changed New York, our country, and the world. I was not only in the city that day but covered the events as a professional photojournalist. I will tell you the story of what happened not only from a historic perspective but from my own experiences being on-site that day. This tour, however, goes well beyond the day, from the remarkable history of the immediate surroundings to the entirely new and dramatic complex of buildings, which make this location a must-see visit for all who come to New York. The so-called Ground Zero is a place of reverence, remembrance, and dignity, but it is also a place of hope. Whether you accompany me or visit on your own, I urge all visitors to come down to this now sacred place.
