I am originally from France, having immigrated to the US in 1984 when I was 17. I moved to New York City in 2002 to go to graduate school to study sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. I fell in love with the city, and have been living here ever since. I am currently a Brooklyn-based artist whose work uses non-traditional materials such as recycled plastic shopping bags with traditional feminine crafts such as knitting, crochet and lace. I make large-scale installations using plastic and detritus as the main materials, and drawing on community-engagement and performance as a major component of the work. I taught as an adjunct professor at Wagner College on Staten Island, (drawing, sculpture, and public art) until 2020. My passion is art, and I want to share my love of New York City through all the wonderful public art that you can see around the city. With over 2 million pieces of art, and collections spanning 5, 000 years, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is the largest museum in the US. As an artist, I have picked the best rooms and collections to see in a two hour tour, to give you a great introduction to the museum's collection. I present art in its historical and cultural context so you can understand the art through the lens of its time. I also make connections between all the galleries we visit, so you can learn about cultural influence around the world. You will receive a deep understanding of each collection's significance, and you will appreciate future visits to the Met and any museum around the world! Please note that the entrance fee is for the entire day! You can stay in the museum after the tour and explore on your own. Please note that the MET is currently closed on Wednesdays.
This was an excellent tour. Well-paced and comprehensive. Our tour guide answered questions with confidence and had an excellent depth of knowledge, making the tour even more engaging and worthwhile. The Met can be overwhelming, and I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a handle on the highlights of this world-class institution from a real expert.
Isabelle was up for the challenge of a multi-generational tour - grandparents, parents and teens with a variety of interest in art. She was enthusiastic, engaging and thoughtful about her commentary and the order with which she showed us pieces. She also illuminated the historical and cultural influences of art through time. She welcomed questions and participation. I have a far greater appreciation for The Met from this experience...highly recommend.

Great tour! We requested 3 hours instead of the standard 2 hours for the guided tour of The Met with Isabelle. She is very personable and very knowledgeable. Besides showing off the best of the Met, she combined commentary that tied the art works to historical history, cultural history, and technical advancements. The 3 hours were fascinating and flew by! She even pushed my husband’s wheelchair through the museum.
