Hello! Think of me as your new New York friend with lots of insider recommendations beyond your tour. Here's a video to get to know me a little better, along with a tour of some lesser-known NYC sites: https://youtu.be/Ht7iqfj74v0?si=ntzXOGQE9n5DYIxs New York is one of the great cities of the world, and I love showing off its history, buildings, stories, and secrets—including New Yorkers' favorite places to dine, drink, shop, and relax. Ever since I moved here 30 years ago, I've been leading intimate tours for family, friends, and now for visitors like you as a licensed New York City tour guide. A little more about me: I am an educator and event planner by training, so my job and passion are to create exciting and meaningful experiences for you and your group to learn about the city and why it is so incredible. I've lived in many New York neighborhoods, been a student at NYU, written books, taught at Columbia University, spent time with celebrities, and lived through 9/11—all of which enrich my knowledge of New York's unique culture, customs, and craziness. My Focus: Greenwich Village has been home for most of my New York life, so I lead lots of tours in this popular neighborhood that includes Washington Square, Christopher Street, Little Island, and the Meatpacking District. Another favorite place for tours is Central Park. It is an engineering and environmental marvel, and New York would be unlivable without it. We also have many other beautiful parks which are great launchpads for learning about and discovering the areas of the city that surround them. And then there's the magnificent Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the reborn World Trade Center, 9/11 Memorial, and many other famous places in between that will give you an understanding and sense of New York then and now. Your Interests: I also want to know about what you and your fellow travelers would like to do so that I can design a fun and memorable experience for you. As you consider your time in New York, don't hesitate to contact me with your questions and ideas for customizing a tour to match your goals and schedule. Thanks for your interest and let's have an amazing NYC walk and experience soon! Welcome to my amazing corner of Manhattan! We'll discover why it developed and changed the world. From history and music, to laws and trends, you'll be awed by the Village people who have spent time here. From Washington, Hitchcock, Ross and Phoebe, to human rights, architectural oddities and living off the grid, the Village has been a destination for influencers, artists, activists and people who want to find themselves, be themselves, and realize their dreams. The extra time on this tour will let us casually stroll its charming streets, and even grab a coffee or cannoli where we locals do! Let me know if you have more than six participants, or if this is a work group, as adjusted pricing may apply.
·We'll start our adventure in Greenwich Village's lively Washington Square Park. I'll tell you about its amazing history, the Washington Arch, and the fire that changed everything. ·From there, we'll check out posh lower 5th Avenue, a pop-music shrine, and one of NYC's most remarkable buildings. ·Then, we'll go west down Christopher Street, where we'll see the Stonewall Inn (birth of the modern gay rights movement), the 'freak' fish tank, and the smallest piece of private property in NYC. ·Next, we'll pass by the apartment where the seeds of Lincoln's assassination were sown, the popular Friends building, and NYC's oldest house and thinnest building. ·The Meatpacking District is next, followed by the fabulous High Line elevated promenade. ·Finally, we'll experience Little Island, a new architectural marvel built in the Hudson River. . . with a connection to the Titanic. (This tour can be customized, including for larger groups; additional planning and logistics may increase the tour price. )
