Hi, I'm Phil, licensed to be a tourist guide by the City of New York's Department of Consumer Affairs and a member of the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC). I began my tourist guiding career to share my passion for the Big Apple with tourists and locals alike. I wanted to live in Greenwich Village from a young age. For 46 years I have lived, loved, laughed, and learned in this vibrant and colorful neighborhood! I like the Village because of its small-town atmosphere in a big city. With its irregular street plan, named streets, easy charm and human scale I find The Village comforting. I share what I have seen over the years and in the present moment on my tours with a dash of humor and a splash of insight that can come only from a longtime resident. I have a strong interest in art, architecture, and history, which are the focus of my tours. • I volunteer for Education Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I lead walking tours of New York City. Walking is not only the best exercise, it is also the best way to see the Big Apple. When transportation is needed the subway gets us where we want to go efficiently, inexpensively, and like a local.

Phil tailored our visit to the Met so that we saw new areas and exhibits and easily avoided the crowds (especially welcome on a very busy Saturday). His extensive knowledge was presented in a very engaging and humorous way, making our extensive visit go by almost too quickly! We highly recommend Phil.
Phil was awesome! We did the Met Highlights tour. He is very knowledgeable about the works of art, and understands what is interesting to people. He moves at a fast pace, which felt rushed at first, but then I understood why: in the two hours there we barely scratched the surface of the many amazing displays; a slower pace would have made us miss out on a portion of what we did see.
Our guide Phil was amazing! He kept us totally engaged for the entire tour. Request him, he is wonderful!
Phil was fantastic. I cannot imagine seeing the Met any other way than with a private guide. There is just too much to see. The tour was fascinating and covered many different areas and time periods. Phil provided interesting details and behind the scenes stories that made the experience better than simply wondering through the museum alone.
