I am originally from France, having immigrated to the US in 1984 when I was 17. I moved to New York City in 2002 to go to graduate school to study sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. I fell in love with the city, and have been living here ever since. I am currently a Brooklyn-based artist whose work uses non-traditional materials such as recycled plastic shopping bags with traditional feminine crafts such as knitting, crochet and lace. I make large-scale installations using plastic and detritus as the main materials, and drawing on community-engagement and performance as a major component of the work. I taught as an adjunct professor at Wagner College on Staten Island, (drawing, sculpture, and public art) until 2020. My passion is art, and I want to share my love of New York City through all the wonderful public art that you can see around the city. I will show you iconic New York, and some hidden treasures for a memorable experience. New York City Sight Seeing License Master of Fine Arts - Sculpture. New York Academy of Art, New York, NY

As a home baker, chocolate lover, and gourmande, I have an enormous fondness for anything chocolate. On this walking tour, I will take you from the Lower East Side to Soho, through Chinatown and Little Italy (with an option to extend the tour to the West Village) to sample the best chocolate in New York City. New York, one of the most diverse cities on earth, is known for its international Chefs. Chocolate has been adapted and refined by Chocolatiers from around the world who call New York home. We will sample green tea chocolate bars, rum filled Swedish chocolate, artisanal chocolate with local and ethnically sourced ingredients, decadent truffles with chocolate from Belize, and the creations of Chef Maribel Lieberman. I have carefully selected the best and most iconic chocolate samples from each store, and I look forward to sharing the pleasure of discovering their tasting sensations with you!
We will meet in front of Katz's Delicatessen on Houston St in the Lower East Side, an iconic sight in the neighborhood not to be missed. We will travel to our first stop Economy Candy - a shoe store turned candy store during the depression. We will walk to BonBon, a Swedish candy store that has anything from vodka-infused blueberry marzipan to any Swedish delicacies you can dream of! Next stop will be Roni-Sue's Chocolates, a woman-owned business specializing in the most delicious truffles around. As we enter Little Italy, we will stop at Stick With Me Sweets where your taste buds will delight in this store's artisanal chocolates. We will walk to SoHo's MarieBelle where you will have a small cup of Aztec hot chocolate! Included: - Green tea KitKat (2 or 3 individually wrapped) - Swedish chocolate bar from BonBon (your choice of flavor) - A truffle of your choice from Roni-Sue - A box of 6 bonbons to share (individual flavors of your choice) - A small cup of MarieBelle hot chocolate

This is a walking tour: the walking is fairly easy (all flat!) and we will make stops to appreciate fully our chocolate samples.
