While the LES (Lower East Side) was the most densely populated place in the world due to the vast Jewish immigrants arriving to the United States around the 1900’s, the area still has many remnants of the past. The walking tour will focus on many of the remaining vestiges and surviving buildings. It's time to explore this remarkable period of immigration in New York City history through the neighborhood's history. We’ll be stopping at existing and repurposed synagogues, tenements, old banks, food stores to names a few. Not only will you see interesting architecture but we’ll stop to get a nosh or two along the way. I grew up in this beautiful neighborhood and know many of its secrets that I would love to show you. As with every ToursByLocals, this tour is of course customizable Please contact me using the orange 'message guide' button to discuss.
