Hello! I'm David, a lifetime New Yorker and I'd love to show you around my city. The many journeys and experiences I've enjoyed here have only increased my love of my hometown. I have an advanced knowledge of its history and have participated in as well as led many walking tours here and around the world. I founded my catering and event planning business, Indiana Market & Catering, here over 35 years ago and have been featured many times in the New York Times, New York magazine and periodicals all over the country. I am also passionate about my teaching and public speaking career, currently teaching part-time at the Institute of Culinary Education, offering my background in restaurant management, customer service and leadership skills. Outside of these worlds, I've always found time to give back to my community in so many ways. I currently reside in the East Village but know the rest of this great city really well. Everyone should visit New York at least once in their lives to see it firsthand and explore its many pleasures and beauty. I promise to show you the well-known sights and intriguing hidden gems, as well as the best places to dine, buy, and have fun. On a tour with me, you can be assured to get a wonderful mix of knowledge and excitement to create unique, life-changing New York experiences. I'm looking forward to showing you around the place I call home. Discover one of New York City's most desirable neighborhoods. Learn about its rich history, see what is considered the city's most beautiful block, marvel at the gorgeous architecture, and witness where America's most famous writers/actors lived. We'll begin our tour in Stuyvesant Square Park, where we'll bask in the fascinating history of the area. We'll observe quintessential NYC architecture as we walk to the iconic St. George's Episcopal Church and Irving Place. Join me as we take in Union Square, what used to be NY's Theater District/Fashion Row, and is now home to our largest farmers market. We'll make our way through Gramercy Park and walk along NYC's prettiest street, Block Beautiful. We will see the site of Max's Kansas City, the REAL birthplace of Punk Rock. Finally, we will end the tour at the city's oldest bar, Pete's Tavern. Grab a drink and experience the tavern as author O. Henry did in the late 1800s! By the end of the tour, you'll walk away feeling more in the know than a New Yorker!
