Traveling has always been in my blood. First as a tourist, then for work and now, from the other side as a guide. Here's my story in a nutshell: After graduating from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, I toured the world as an opera singer and settled in New York City over 30 years ago (I know! Time flies when you're having fun. . . In the "second act" of my life I shared my passion between teaching Voice, and investing. I have worked in the financial markets, saw the internet bubble from the inside and the financial crisis from a little too close. . . if you know what I mean. In the third act, I had children bringing light and life into my household and a strong desire to educate started to grow in me. A life long passion for history found its way through Tour Guiding. Since the year 2005, guiding tourists (and sometimes even locals!) through my city has been less than a job and more of a passion. If you want a unique experience, lively conversations on a wide range of topics and funny anecdotes about New York City, look no further. Overview of your New York City tour
Some call it the latest playground for billionaires, others call it the most expensive private real estate development in the USA. But, one thing is for sure, the history on this piece of land is much more than a dollar sign. For decades real estate developers (yes, even a certain Donald Trump) tried unsuccessfully to built up and develop this area. They tried everything from crazy futuristic buildings to even hosting the 2012 olympics. I'll unveil the "when" and the "why" they all failed until recently and help you understand how this neighbourhood was crucial to the commercial development of New York City, what caused its demise and how a successful project finally, yet not without difficulties, created a new (the last) neighborhood in the Big Apple. Our tour takes place just before sunset (times will change over the year so let's get in touch for updates), culminating with a luxury dinner at PEAK (101st floor!), where you'll enjoy a fabulous meal and be treated to the most spectacular views at sunset.
Your New York City tour itinerary
·After meeting either at Hudson Yards or at your hotel, we'll head to the start of our tour right on top of an artificial platform (I'll explain everything to you there, you'll see how cool it is!). ·We'll then proceed to walk through the Hudson Yards and scout the Urban Commercial Centre. ·Next, we'll find ourselves wandering around the surrounding neighbourhood, experiencing part of the High Line. ·Afterwards, we'll come back just in time for the sunset dinner at PEAK on the 101st floor! This stunning restaurant, bar and event space blends stunning views of New York City with elevated menus, vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality. ·Once at PEAK (and weather permitting) you'll also get access to Edge - the highest observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. ·At last, we'll say our goodbyes after a great shared time together.
