Hello! I'm David, a lifetime New Yorker and I'd love to show you around my city. The many journeys and experiences I've enjoyed here have only increased my love of my hometown. I have an advanced knowledge of its history and have participated in as well as led many walking tours here and around the world. I founded my catering and event planning business, Indiana Market & Catering, here over 35 years ago and have been featured many times in the New York Times, New York magazine and periodicals all over the country. I am also passionate about my teaching and public speaking career, currently teaching part-time at the Institute of Culinary Education, offering my background in restaurant management, customer service and leadership skills. Outside of these worlds, I've always found time to give back to my community in so many ways. I currently reside in the East Village but know the rest of this great city really well. Everyone should visit New York at least once in their lives to see it firsthand and explore its many pleasures and beauty. I promise to show you the well-known sights and intriguing hidden gems, as well as the best places to dine, buy, and have fun. Join me on this curated tour as we stroll through an elevated urban oasis, admire unique art installations, enjoy iconic vistas, and immerse ourselves through one of the most storied neighborhoods in New York. Together, we'll encounter iconic landmarks, relish in local delicacies, and enjoy some of downtown's world-class attractions. Highlights include walking through the spectacular High Line with its outdoor art installations and its stunning city views; visiting Chelsea Market; being charmed by the streets of Greenwich Village; and visiting the historic 9/11 Memorial, One World Trade Center, and the Oculus. When the tour concludes, you'll walk away feeling like a New Yorker with a deeper appreciation for the city that keeps reinventing itself. I look forward to having you join me on this journey.
Your New York City tour itinerary
• We'll begin our tour in the High Line. Once a functional freight rail line and now a raised public park on Manhattan's West Side, the High Line is a masterpiece of urban green design offering outdoor art installations, gorgeous views of the Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, the Hudson River and its newest attractions: Pier 57, Little Island, Gansevoort Peninsula and Beach. Its peaceful gardens are great for photos and people-watching! • After, we will make our way to Chelsea Market, the first home of the Oreo cookie factory as well as dozens of unique restaurants and boutiques • Then, we'll stroll the charming streets of Greenwich Village, filled with storied architecture and establishments and visit the iconic "Friends" and "Sex and the City" apartment buildings • We'll end the tour at the World Trade Center taking in the reflecting pools at the 9/11 Memorial and enjoying the Oculus—the most beautiful subway station in the world I am happy to adjust the itinerary to best fit your specific interests.
