Highlights of our exploration include Macy's Herald Square (the source of holiday shopping traditions), the spectacular holiday decor on Fifth Avenue, the animated windows and light show on the facade of Sak's Fifth Avenue, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the dazzling decor and Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. Along the way, you'll learn how NYC created many of America's favorite Christmas traditions like municipal Christmas trees, classic Christmas songs. . . even Santa Claus!
*Macy's Herald Square: the inspiration of "Miracle on 34th Street" and the birthplace of many holiday shopping traditions. *Bryant Park's Winter Village - a holiday market featuring over 100 high-quality vendors, a giant ice skating rink, and a towering Christmas tree. *The stately New York Public Library; beautifully decorated for the holidays. The spectacular holiday windows along Fifth Avenue, including Sak's Fifth Avenue's animated windows as well as its sound and life show (after 4:30 pm). St. Patrick's Cathedral Hear how NYC's writers, artists, and immigrants created countless American holiday traditions, including Christmas trees, classic Christmas songs, and the ubiquitous jolly Santa Claus. We'll visit the center of the city's holiday celebration - Rockefeller Center, the dazzling Channel Gardens decorations, and the towering Rock Center Christmas Tree.
