In the last 7 years, 36 skyscrapers have popped up, all over 700 feet (213. 36 meters) tall. In the entire previous century, there were 38 skyscrapers total! But the biggest buildings in this age of the "supertalls" are a series of residential buildings dubbed Billionaires Row. I wanted to create a tour that speaks to modern sensibilities (and controversies!), and have done thorough research into each building. You will get a personalized, local look into NYC's new skyline and how it will evolve! See the world's tallest residential building, and learn of the plans to already de-throne it just blocks away. Stare up at the world's thinnest skyscraper. See the building where a penthouse sold for $238 million… the highest home sale price in US history. And much more! Your tour meets near Columbus Circle, where our journey along Billionaires Row will begin. Buildings we will see include: -220 Central Park South -Central Park Tower -One57 -111 W 57th St -432 Park Ave -53W53 -And others! The tour will explore the factors that led to this modern skyscraper boom: from economic factors, to zoning loopholes, and new building techniques. On this tour, I will answer all these questions, and also dive into the luxurious life and amenities and famous residents of these buildings. And we will discuss the controversies over how these buildings reflect the economic divides of 21st-century New York, as well as how they impact the neighborhoods and landmarks around them. The tour ends right by Rockefeller Center.
