Hi there, and welcome. I hope you are looking forward to your visit to London. So many people call London home but like many of them, I was not actually born here. London always called to me growing up in the East Anglian countryside. At the turn of the millennium, I finally made the move. And I have never looked back! Working initially running a chain of bars in Soho, I was engrossed by the history of the city. The vibrant mix of people (both residents and tourists) and cultures have held my fascination for nearly 20 years now. I moved on from working in bars to become a chef. I worked in some of London's finest hotels, all the while reading up and exploring all London had to offer. With the arrival of my young family, I wanted more flexibility in my work life balance. I decided to take on one of my greatest challenges yet. I was to study 'The Knowledge' to become a Licensed London Taxi Driver. Learning so much to pass these exams whetted my appetite for more. I was soon studying again. This time to become a Green Badge London Taxi Guide with The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers. People that have taken a tour with me comment on my enthusiasm, which I take as a great compliment.  I do admit that it is not hard as there is so much to love about London. I like to think that living and working in different areas in London for the last 20 years gives me an insight different from many other tour guides. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share my unique experiences with people visiting this great city. I also love to hear some of the stories my customers share with me. You never stop learning. Most recently I have taken myself back to the classroom to improve my amateur Photography. Whilst not professing to be David Bailey, we can always take the opportunity to capture some great snapshots of your trip to London. Why not join me for a drive around London? Licensed London Taxi Driver, having completed "The Knowledge of London" Qualified London Taxi Guide Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers Member of ASTA - American Society of Travel Advisors Member of London Historians Member of English Heritage Member of National Trust I am not a Blue Badge Guide so although I can accompany you inside the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey I cannot guide inside these historical monuments. Whilst my Taxi is limited to 6, please enquire for larger groups.

Overview of your Southampton tour

Upon departing your ship we will head north east to the town of Windsor. Windsor Castle has been home to royalty for more than 900 years. It is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 40 monarchs. From the start of Covid The Queen used Windsor Castle as her primary residence. It has also become her final resting place. It is a working palace and will be used for every State Visit until the end of 2028. Upon departure from Windsor, we return towards Stonehenge, an UNESCO World Heritage site. The stone circle has been on this site for over 4, 500 years and is one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. Once we depart Stonehenge we will return to Southampton, to your hotel or other agreed location. This can be arranged for a Central London destination too. Please Note: St George's Chapel is closed on Sundays as it is used for worship.

We had an extra day in South Hampton and hired Alex to drive us to Stonehenge and Salisbury. It was a great decision. His vehicle was comfortable for 5 people and he was very entertaining with his knowledge and stories. Stonehenge was incredible when you think how in the heck did they move those massive stones and stack them. The Salisbury Cathedral was huge - and again - how did they build it so long ago. Alex knew a lot about both places. The highlight of the day was the British Pub he took us to for lunch. The beer and the fish and chips were great! I would highly recommend hiring Alex. We even used him as a taxi service in London to drive us to the airport.

Initially I booked this tour because our cruise disembarked in Southampton and we needed a way to get to London and I'm happy I made this choice. Alex is a very personable and knowledgeable guide who shared a lot of information about both Stonehenge and Windsor Castle that we would have missed without him. He helped to enjoy both sites and really appreciate what we were seeing. I recommend him highly!

Alex was an amazing tour guide. Alex just went with the flow. When I totally forgot to buy tickets in advance for our tours, he rearrange the day so we could get in Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. Alex went and guided through The two places. Alex knows a lot of history when it comes to the UK and England. I would recommend Alex G and tours by locals Rita
