I am a historian and published author with a passion for making history and culture a fun and relatable journey for everyone. My academic investigations engage with the impact of popular culture on our society. I also advocate for the control and ownership the public has over historical narratives and our engagement with the past away from the watchful academic eye. I am a native-born explorer of the world. I am very privileged because I come from a beautiful part of the world called Cantabria (Spain) which is overlooked yet full of fascinating history. My first trip abroad was at the early age of 2. My family took me to Paris on the train and I had a blast! I am incredibly lucky to have a family with a passion for having adventures and discovering new exciting places, so I just embraced it with my whole being. I love jumping on a plane and going somewhere new, in the same way, that I enjoy a proper road trip somewhere local to rediscover things that perhaps I took for granted. There is something special and worth exploring everywhere, you just need to look out for it. My passion for tour guiding started in 2010 in Winchester (UK) where I learned the ropes to being a cathedral tower tour guide. Operating at other local sites, I developed my knowledge of the touring industry by engaging with tour operators, cruise ships, summer schools, and the general public. With my academic knowledge of history and culture and my love for traveling, I have taken my tour guiding passion beyond the UK, taking individuals and small groups around Europe, going as far as organising travel, bookings, and selecting the best experiences for the trip and the individual needs. I am a natural storyteller and I want everyone to join in my tours to share these stories and experiences with them because I believe they are worth living, creating endearing memories in the process. Winchester is rated as one of the nicest towns in the UK due to its picturesque views, and its very historical city centre. It is also the ancient capital of England and the place were the famous Anglo Saxon king Alfred the Great is buried - in fact during this tour we will take you to his final resting place! Winchester will charm you with its beautiful Gothic Cathedral, the rivers meadows, its busy high street which often features markets, and all the lovely shops and places to eat. Moreover, Winchester is also home of another legend: the famous table of king Arthur (also featuring on our tour!). But what makes this tour truly special is that your guide, me, have studied here and obtained my PhD in medieval history from this very same place. So you will not only get an amazing experience of the town, but you will get the best local tips and viewpoints from someone who has lived and studied in this town's past and present!
Would give SIX stars if I could. She is so fun and so knowledgeable. We learnt so much about the cathedral, the history of the monarchy - from Alfred the Great all the way to the present day. You ask the question and she knew the answer. Very highly recommended. One of the best tours that I have ever taken. THANK YOU Lillian. :)
Lily provided an excellent tour walking through Winchester. It worked well meeting her at the Southampton train station, and arriving in Winchester. We were immersed in the history and architecture of the city. Lily's depth of knowledge was amazing! I just wish we had more time to stay, as there was so much to see and do. Lily got us to the train and taxi in time for return to our cruise ship. I would highly recommend Lily for any tours in the region.

Lillian was an excellent tour guide and person. She was amazingly helpful with my traveling companion who has mobility issues. She was patient and very willing to help out. When we would have to stop to "catch our breath" she always used this down time to give us additional information and background material. She arranged for us to have a car to pick us up in Southampton from the QM2 and it was perfect. The car was immaculate and the driver was experienced in driving the very narrow lanes in Winchester. A lovely day. Thank you Lillian. PS: Her picture on the TBL web site does not do her justice. she is much younger and prettier than that picture. Hopefully TBL will update the photo.
