Hi I'm Ian and welcome to my world! I was born and grew up in the Hampshire countryside just outside of Southampton so if you would like a tour with a local, look no further. I would love to share with you my local knowledge and life experiences including a few tales of my own travels. Travelling has been in my blood since I was young. I have been fortunate to visit more than forty countries across America, Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe, and still have many more on my list to see. Travelling has always been a passion, but it really kick-started with my 20, 000km charity bike ride from London in England to Cape Town in South Africa in 2010. The journey was the best experience of my life. I ended it on a high, experiencing the World Cup, and realised I had the bug to keep going. I spent the next year working hard to raise the money I needed to keep moving across the world. I worked as an English teacher in a rural Chinese town called Langfang before continuing my travel and work through Asia and on to Australia. I wanted to experience different methods of travelling, so during those four and a half years I cycled, rowed, walked, hitch hiked, motor cycled, use public transport and rode horses. Since returning home to England I've started a family with my partner Maja; in 2016 we were blessed with the birth of our son, Eryk. Being a Dad hasn't dimmed my passion for travel and inspired me to work as a tour guide. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful area with many fascinating places to visit just a short drive away. I therefore decided to welcome people to Southampton and take them to see some of the many interesting places all over Southern England. My ethos as a tour guide has always been "treat your guests as though they were close friends" Together we are going to discover what makes the area close to Southampton so special. We will explore the famous sights, walk-through Fairy-Tale villages and taste the local food of this magical part of the world; full of culture and history. My private customized tours are born out of a desire to share one of the world's most beautiful and historical regions with you! I look forward to welcoming you to Southampton and showing you some of the hidden gems that Southern England has to offer. Overview of your Southampton tour

I will meet you on arrival at Southampton Cruise Terminal or at your Southampton hotel and we will travel in the comfort of a spacious air-conditioned vehicle. I will drive you to the prehistoric stone circle of Stonehenge where I will tell you all about the history and ancient beliefs associated to this mysterious place plus some of my own stories about camping by the stones with friends when growing up. Stonehenge was built thousands of years ago but its true purpose remains a mystery even today. Wild theories about Stonehenge have persisted since the Middle Ages, with 12th-century myths crediting the wizard Merlin with constructing the site. At the end of our visit you can form your own opinion! We will spend up to 3 hours at the site giving you plenty of time to see Stonehenge, the exhibition centre and enjoy shopping in the gift shop or lunch in the café. We then drive back to your Southampton cruise terminal in plenty of time for your departure.

This was a great opportunity to see a truly historic site. Thanks to Ian for making the most of our transition day between cruises in Southampton. On the way to Stonehenge, we had some great views of Salisbury Cathedral and Old Sarum (a 3500 year old hill fort). When we arrived, we toured the museum, which gives you a good background on the evolution of the site. Then we shuttled out to the site and took the time to walk the full circuit seeing it from every angle - it was captivating. I took a ton of pictures, but they really can't do it justice - Stonehenge has to be experienced. On our way back to Southampton, we detoured through The New Forest to see its inhabitants, pigs, donkeys, and ponies that all run wild (ponies seem to range from shaggy ponies to thoroughbred horses). As a Canadian this is an interesting version of New as the forest was founded in 1087.

Absolutely thrilled with our experience! Our tour guide was not only on time but incredibly friendly and accommodating. They flexed our schedule effortlessly, ensuring we saw everything we wanted. Their knowledge of the area was top-notch, easily answering all our questions. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough to fit our five large bags without a problem. If you’re looking for a seamless and enjoyable tour experience, this is the guide you need. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ian was very knowledgeable about Stonehenge and the area. He arrived promptly at our hotel and we traveled in comfort. Instead of grabbing lunch we asked to stop In Salisbury for the cathedral. He delivered us to the dock for our cruise with all our bags in tow. Would definitely recommend Ian Williams!
