Overview of your Southampton tour
This shore excursion from Southampton visits the World Heritage site of Stonehenge. See and hear about the stone circle that has stood here for over 4, 500 years. Some of these stones weighs over 35 tonnes and were all brought here from the Marlborough Downs under manpower alone. This site is still very much a mystery attracts visitors from all over the world. It is certainly a good one to tick off your list. From Stonehenge, we head into the medieval town of Salisbury. Rising to 404 feet Salisbury Cathedral is the tallest cathedral in the UK and is home to the oldest working clock in the world. Here I will tell you the fascinating history of how and why the cathedral was built and more about what we will see inside. Salisbury is also home to the Magna Carta. There are only 4 of the original documents left and here you will see the best preserved one. The small city of Salisbury is also an interesting place for a walk around and offers good shopping and plenty of places for lunch.
Your Southampton tour itinerary
I will meet and greet you in the arrivals hall at Southampton Dock. We will travel to Stonehenge where we will visit the exhibition centre before going down to the stone circle. We will then travel to Salisbury where we will visit the cathedral and the Magna Carta Lunch can either be in Salisbury or we can find a country pub. Return to Southampton.
