Hello - My name is Neil, I am 70 years young and I have lived and worked in Liverpool for all of my life! I am a great admirer of the city, its people and its culture. I have been guiding since 2012, surpassing 375 tours for Toursbylocals during that time. I am happy and proud to report I consistently receive 5 STAR reviews for my tours and will endeavour to ensure this continues. You and your group will always be at the centre of my focus and I am always on hand to advise and assist you to get the most out of your time, both with me, and maybe plans for later, if you have more time in Liverpool. I firmly believe that the best way to explore Liverpool is by foot. My pace is relaxed and can be adjusted to suit all levels of mobility. Our City Centre is compact but never too crowded with lots of space in its many squares and parks to sit back, rest and enjoy the atmosphere between exploring the places and sights I will guide you to. The place is steeped in History and people are amazed to learn the extent Liverpool has played in shaping modern history. I have been astonished too at the changes to my home cities landscape over the last 20 years and have witnessed the resurgence of Liverpool to become an exciting and remarkable tourist destination. I will be proud to guide you through it's many wonderful attractions. Please take a look at my tours and reviews, if you would like me to customise a tour for you send me a message and I will endeavour to put something together for you that will be truly special! I often say my earliest memory, at the age of eight, was hearing the roll of drums that opened the Beatles first massive hit 'She Loves You' on the radio, my love of their unique sound and melodies has never diminished since. Ever proud of our most famous sons Beatles fans will find Liverpool still dances to the Mersey Beat! I am especially proud of my Beatles Experience tours, a truly personal journey through the story of their meeting and early days. Liverpool has some atmospheric old pubs each can tell a story or two about Liverpool's incredible history. We can include one or two of these in your itinerary - tours can be extended to include a Pub lunch sampling "Scouse" (Liverpool's local delicacy!) best enjoyed with a "Bevvy" (Ale) or "Black Stuff" (Guinness) Just let me know if you are interested! Please feel at liberty to combine short walking tours or ask me to customise a tour in order to fully meet your needs. Small groups can sometimes be accommodated by use of a car if mobility is an issue. If you should book a tour with me you will hopefully find me, as others do, a warm and friendly man with a wicked sense of humour and a genuine love for his City. I look forward to meeting you and sharing an unforgettable day out! 375 tours delivered for Toursbylocals in Liverpool, over 13 years, Loves local History. Liverpool has some of the finest and historic public houses in the UK. I have selected a few of the best that will help tell you our story, and sample the unique culture of this amazing city! Along the way we see all the main sights of Liverpool and you can sample some of the finest ales (and/or Ciders etc) whilst we savour the pubs interiors and atmosphere. Each pub has a different history lesson to reveal, from Liverpool's early role in the transatlantic trade of Slaves, Sugar, Tobacco and Cotton. From the mass emigrations of the 1800's, to the terrors of the Blitz, and the birth of the Beatles. The fall and rise of its docklands, and shining through it all, the unique wit and character of the locals, the 'Scousers' This tour can be adapted to include a pub lunch, especially if you want to sample the famous Liverpool dish SCOUSE (a delicious and hearty meat stew) and a "Bevvy or two" local REAL ale! Just ask if you are interested!
Meet and greet at your chosen destination. We visit all the 'must see' sights of the City including the Historic Docks, River front and the Beatles Quarter. Along the way we visit four (maybe five) local pubs chosen for their history, atmosphere as well as the quality of their beers, ciders and ales (the drinking of alcoholic drinks is not compulsory) Each pub will have a connection to the historic events of the port, what better place to tell the stories that make up the legend of Liverpool! You will then be dropped off safely at your ship or other chosen destination. This tour is ideal for those of us who are not seeking a strenuous walk, spent trying to listen to a guide fighting to make himself heard above the noise of busy streets. It is designed to particularly suit our more less active visitors who are seeking something a little more relaxing, somewhat off the tourist beaten path, with a chance to sit and talk with a local as you learn all about this amazing city.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
