Hi my name is Ruth, I would like to welcome you to my home town Liverpool, the very name conjures up images of a glorious maritime history, world-beating musical heritage, two of the Premiership's biggest football teams and not one, but two majestically different Cathedrals. It is now bulging with fabulous new shops, buzzing new restaurants, hip hotels and trendy wine bars, as well as a world class cultural offering with more museums and galleries anywhere outside of London, not forgetting its inhabitants, of course, who are famously friendly and will welcome you with pride. I am a born and bred Scouser and like all true Scouser's have great pride and love of my city and its culture I was brought up living on Penny lane and from a young age have always enjoyed meeting visitors from around the world who would come and visit and pay homage to the Beatles. I have shown many friends and relatives around the city and have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge of places of interest and past history. I've always had a real passion for Liverpool and its vibrant and fascinating history and wish to share that enthusiasm with visitors to my city in a relaxed, informative and entertaining way, humour is in our blood. As the most complete walled city in Britain, Chester is one of Britain's Heritage Cities. No city in Britain is richer in terms of archaeological and architectural treasures than Chester, the Walled City on the River Dee. The surviving Roman grid pattern of streets are so compact that you can get around all the city's landmarks on foot, feasting your eyes on an amazing architectural panorama of the past. Stroll the Roman walls, studded with historic towers and gates, then drop into the Roman Amphitheatre - scene of a major archaeological project Here you will have some free time if you wish for personal shopping "The Rows" the famous two tier shopping galleries contains some of the city's most interesting shops Afterwards we make our way to Liverpool awarded the European Capital of Culture in 2008 We will visit all the landmark places that form the culture, music, architecture and history of this fabulous city.
Very personable driver with interesting stories and insite. Definitely knew the area. Knew shortcuts and best advantage points for photos. A great day exploring Chester. A good way to avoid anything Beatles related as I am not a fan of them. Would recommend Ruth.
Ruth was such a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. We had a great day and saw so much on this tour. She was very accommodating to anything we asked her. I highly recommend her.
Ruth met us outside the port in Liverpool on time and we headed out to Chester in her very comfortable van. We parked and started the tour in Chester by walking the famous Roman walls. She regaled us with history and made sure we got to see the most scenic areas of the city. She knew the best places to get amazing photos. She was very accommodating in helping my mother find a store to purchase a hat and she was extremely patient with her the entire day as she has Alzheimer's and tends to ask the same questions repeatedly. Ruth did not mind and just answered them again. She had planned a local pub lunch at a famous haunted pub but when the cook didn't show up she pivoted quickly and found an alternative lunch spot that was delicious. She is personable and easy to talk to and we had the best day getting to know her and exploring Chester.
Ruth is a wonderful tour guide and gave us a great day. We really enjoyed learning the history and experiencing the quaint town of Chester. Ruth then took us around Liverpool and gave us a very detailed tour of the home of the Beatles. Ruth is very knowledgeable, pleasant, and gives you an enjoyable day. I highly recommend Ruth as a tour guide.
Ruth was just amazing! As one who has lived her entire life in Liverpool, she gives an extensive and in-depth view of the city, its people, its historic sites, and its culture. She offers the unique view of Liverpool and especially the Beatles as only one who grew up in the city can offer. Her introduction to city highlights are out of the commercial sphere. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
We had a wonderful tour with Ruth! We didn't know much about Liverpool or Chester and it was so great to be led around by a local. She was early to pick us up and handled an unexpected traffic jam with poise and grace. Had several back up plans and friends on the phone to help problem solve. She had a fun and playful side and was spontaneous with letting us stop at a bakery and then go to a park and we just laughed so much at the dog who stole a sandwich! Great memories you couldn't plan to have!
