Join me on a tour of the 'great roaring spangled beast' that sits on the shores of the Irish Sea. This is how Yorkshire writer J B Priestley described Blackpool in 1934. Fast forward 10 years, and a young John Lennon was spending happy childhood holidays here and in the neighbouring resort of Fleetwood. In the 1960s the Beatles were amongst the many famous bands who played in the town, which boasts a long history of entertaining its visitors spanning over 200 years. Still famously bold and brash, Blackpool is also wonderfully romantic, nostalgic and buzzing with life, and it's this vibrant town with a proud heritage that I would love to show you, once we've travelled from Fleetwood along the coast on one of the country's oldest tramways. Fleetwood is a gem in its own right - so full of interest and incredible to think that the town and its buildings were designed by Decimus Burton, architect of the Palm House at Kew Gardens, London's Wellington Arch and countless other classical buildings across Britain.
- Drive to the coastal town of Fleetwood, formerly one of Britain's largest fishing ports - Enjoy a short walk along the seafront and perhaps an ice cream or cup of tea - Tram ride following the coast for most of the way from Fleetwood to Blackpool - Leisurely walking tour of Blackpool's major sights, including promenade and piers, Winter Gardens, Blackpool Tower - Visit Blackpool Tower Eye and Sky Walk (weather-dependent) - Fish and chips are one of the great British seaside traditions that Blackpool does so well, and I know the perfect restaurant! Or you might prefer an elegant afternoon tea in the Tower Ballroom - Rejoin your vehicle. Return to Liverpool via beautiful Stanley Park, a perfect finish to a day that will leave you feeling relaxed and recharge Please contact me if you would like me to adapt the itinerary to suit your personal preferences. Driving time: approx. 3 hours (traffic dependent) Walking time: 2 hours Visits: 1 hour Tram ride: 1 hour Refreshment breaks: 1. 5 hours
