With a family presence in the Glens of Antrim stretching back nearly 400 years, a third level qualification in Irish History and a keen interest in the culture, heritage, history and wildlife of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you could say that this visually stunning part of Ireland is in my DNA. Let me tell you of ancient warriors and battles, Irish fairies and folklore, let me show you abandoned castles and churchyards that have played a major part in the life of the Glens of Antrim and have shaped its people into what we are today - fiercely independent with links both to the Hebridean Islands of western Scotland as well as Ireland. An accredited storyteller with an acute interest in local Celtic mythology, let me guide you around cascading waterfalls, rugged mountains, secluded beaches and charming coastal villages via roads almost as old the Glens themselves. To say I am passionate about guiding tourists through this area is an understatement. I have been doing it on a voluntary basis since childhood and believe totally in my ability as a guide as much as I believe that the Glens of Antrim are unsurpassed in terms of scenery anywhere in the world. World Host accredited in Customer Service and an accreditation as a storyteller have helped ensure a fascinating, informative and thought-provoking tour. I can honestly say that I am overwhelmed with reviews received from enchanted customers as well as the number of repeat visitors to the area. As the saying goes "I must be doing something right"! A short political tour of Belfast showcasing some of the artwork of the "murals" which adorn many walls in the city. A short visit to museums dedicated to the period known as "The Troubles", followed by a drive through the unspoilt and peaceful Glens of Antrim ending with a visit to the Unesco World Heritage site, The Giants Causeway! Delve into the complex and emotionally charged history of the city of Belfast and indeed Northern Ireland. Through the visit to 'The Troubles' museums, you will be documenting the last 500 years of conflict and have photographs taken at iconic murals depicting politics here. You might feel that I am like an old friend and storyteller who shows you a slice of "my" Ireland so you can get the Irish legends, folklore and past! I guarantee you will be want to return.
The itinerary will be the following: - Spend up to 2hrs in Belfast viewing the murals and visiting the museum. - 4hrs driving through unspoilt Irish countryside ending at The Giants Causeway. - 2hrs back to your departure point, having eaten in a quaint restaurant surrounded by waterfalls and all the while learned about Ireland, its history, culture and plans for the future. This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly.
