Hi everyone, My name is Dilek, a national-licensed tour guide. I am 40 years old and have been guiding for 12 years. My husband is from Mexico as a Mexican Turkish family and with our two young kids we live in Istanbul. When I don't work I spend most of my time outdoor with my family, enjoying Istanbul as much as we can. We go out, try to discover new restaurants, new museums, art galleries, children's activities. I am qualified in the knowledge of Turkish history, mythology, archaeology, history of religion, and history of art. I speak English and Spanish. Following my university graduation, I lived in England for 5 years where I continued my education studying Travel and Tourism at Greenwich School of Management. After I lived a short time in Guatemala, Cuba to learn Spanish. On my tour I would like to show you architectural styles, historical fun facts, famous historical monuments, tell you about the people's life in Istanbul, how we spend our days, where do people go to eat, what we eat, where we shop, what we listen, the best places to eat, drink and party. Dilek was a great guide. Not only did she navigate through the city, the grand bazaar, local market and spice market, she also provided information and explanations along the way. She is a knowledgeable, informative and fun guide. She provided guidance on visiting other places of interest in Istanbul. We had a great day with her and I highly recommend her as a guide.
Dilek was very helpful. Met us at the cruise terminal so we didn’t have to try and navigate Istanbul. While 4000 stalls at the Grand Bazaar she took us to the ones that we were interested in seeing. She was extremely helpful.
Dilek was great! She really knows the area and gave us some great insight into the different sites. She was great at customizing the tour to meet our needs and she was very easy to work with. We would definitely work with her again. She was very flexible and we adjusted easily on the fly.
We had a wonderful afternoon with Dilek. She listened to our interests and guided us through the labyrinth of the Grand Bazaar, providing us with local history along the way. She is a delightful, intelligent guide!
I personally loved this tour! I had a list of things that I wanted to purchase from the shops and they did not disappoint! I will say that I could have haggled more...I am not all that comfortable with it, but it seemed to be expected and next time I will try harder. You can get the price you want if you walk away and other shops have similar items. My favorite was the Spice Market. It smelled so wonderful and there was so much to choose from! We came home with a huge bag of spices and nuts....love it! Our guide was awesome and incredibly patient as we shopped our way through the markets. She made sure we found everything on our list.
Delik is a warm and friendly guide. Going to the markets with her is like going shopping with an old friend. She gave us the right amount of information and stories about the Grand Bazaar and Istanbul. Our stop for coffee and cake was delightful. In addition, she gave us a good introduction to using trams and buses in the city.
