Hello everybody! My name is Katerina and I have greek and russian roots (Unfortunately I don't...

As an Istanbulite, I always find the bazaar area one of the most interesting places to visit. Even though it was not one of my favorite places when I was a kid as it was always very busy (it was because I preferred to play with my toys instead of going there with my mum to buy fabrics and spices), now I need to admit that the heart of Istanbul beats there. In addition to the famous covered bazaar known by the tourists, outside there is another world where local people come for shopping. Here you can find shops of leather, gold, silver, bedlinen, wool, wedding or engagement dresses, kids wear, electronic devices, jewelry, carpets, clothes, bags, beads, fabrics, and many more. The street of Mahmut Pasha leading to the Spice Market could be interesting for the ones who want to have a shopping experience with the local people or just observe and take nice pictures of the streets where James Bond Skyfall, Taken2, The Water-diviner were filmed.
-Grand Bazaar: One of the largest and oldest covered markets in the World with 4000 shops. Here you can find leather products, carpets, jewelry, textiles, scarves, pottery, souvenirs and more. -Secondhand Book Bazaar: Here is a very nice courtyard with many bookstores. It is possible to find books in different languages, postcards, ottoman miniatures, coins, stamps etc. -Mahmut Pasha: This area is between the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. There are thousands of shops for different products. You will observe and experience a completely local atmosphere in the historical Hans (large commercial buildings) of the bazaar. -Tahtakale: This market is full of shops selling handcrafted products. -Spice Market: The smell and the colors of this small covered bazaar will impress you. Spice market or Egyptian Bazaar is the center of dried fruits, nuts, spices, teas, coffee and many more. This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly!
