Hello everybody! My name is Katerina and I have greek and russian roots (Unfortunately I don't speak Russian). Born and raised in Istanbul, I'm a big Istanbul lover. I enjoy travelling and meeting people from all over the World. Having visited many cities, I find Istanbul very special. Not only because it is my home but also because I believe that it has an energy that attracts people. Our tour with Katerina in Istanbul was one of the highlights of our Mediterranean cruise. She was fun to be with and had a deep knowledge of history and the life of the city. She was very professional and made sure to let us know ahead of time the things we might need especially while visiting some of the holy sites. She picked wonderful landmarks for the tour; the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia and Roman Basilica Cistern. The rest of our day she spent taking us on a food and shopping tour of the Spice Bazaar and Grand Bazaar. She knew all the best restaurants for the various Turkish foods we tried. When we went to the bazaars she brought us to vendors she knew and trusted. There is no way we could have seen so much or enjoyed our time as much without her. We got back to our cruise ship in good time too.
We had a wonderful experience with Katerina. She was a wealth of knowledge (in Greek and English), and very pleasant and accommodating to 2 elderly members of our group. I would highly recommend Katerina to anyone wanting a tour of Istanbul.
We spent a day with Katerina at Sultanahmet's attractions and we had a great time! Katerina guided us through all, under heavy rain, with virtusity. She is a great guide, polite, always smiling and willing to meet everybody's needs and interests.Couldn't have expected a better guide!
-Blue Mosque ( Sultanahmet Mosque) (open every day except Friday mornings). -Roman Hippodrome where the chariot races were held in Roman times. -Hagia Sophia Mosque (built in the 6th century, largest Christian church for 1000 years, turned into a mosque, then a museum and now mosque again. Hagia Sophia was chosen a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1985) -Basilica Cistern (There are 158 underground cisterns in the old Constantinople. This large underground cistern built by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (527-565) is one of the most impressive monuments of Istanbul). -Grand Bazaar (One of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world) This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly!
