Asian and European Side Food Tour

Dilek should be top of the Istanbul ToursByLocals guide list !! If you don't use a wonderfully charming guide like Dilek who whisks you PAST massive hot line-ups for the sites of Istanbul, you are MAD. Frankly, confine yourself to Blue Mosque (not Friday), the Basilica cisterns, Topkapi and perhaps some Byzantine churches. DO YOUR RESEARCH ! Forget Agia Sofya - in sad decline. We've been before : only had 2/3 days before cruise. So a ferry day-trip up the Bosphorous to Andolou Viragi for lunch (only one ferry/day) with Dilek seemingly translating for the small ferry ! Then a day gallop round a coupla sites, a hidden coffee shop, and a food tour on Asian side (research places for particular foods). Missed the Maritime Museum - next time! Overall, perfect for 70yr old foodies who want a less hectic no-problem insight into life in Istanbul. GO WITH DILEK - you won't regret it !

Once again, we've just had a terrific tour with Dileck, after our first with her 13 years ago. Others were historic, but this was a foodie tour to feel and taste the local cuisine. We visited fresh markets, and restaurants in search of great things and places tourists would likely never find on their own. Thank you Dilek for a really fun day. We'll look forward to another next time we visit Istanbul.

Dilek showed us Istanbul through our bellies. She had us try local delicacies while she showed us her beautiful city. We enjoyed exploring using the ferries and trams. Our family of five all really liked the cool vibe of the Asian side of the city and the wet hamburgers were among our favorite items we tried. We love to do food tours when we visit a new country and Dilek did not disappoint. Over a half day we visited many parts of Istanbul and tasted lots of local foods, mostly from small sellers, where local people shop and eat. We tasted things we would never order ourselves. Dilek was very flexible and easily modified the itinerary to suit our interests. The 2 ferry trips on the Bosporus were a bonus, especially if you do not have time to do a full cruise. I have no hesitation recommending Dilek's tour.
