Lucerne, less than a one-hour-drive from Zurich, is rightly called the heart of Switzerland. Geographically it's in the middle of the country, historically it's one of the first cantons (Swiss federal unit) that formed Switzerland and touristically - quintessentially Swiss - a beautiful mountain lake surrounded by the Alps, houses from the 13th century, lavish Catholic churches, and restaurants offering a wide variety of typical Swiss food. You'll see the famous water tower and learn about its history, the lion monument dedicated to the bravery of the Swiss Guards, and opulently decorated historic churches. From Lucerne we can go to the mount of Pilatus, Titlis, Stanserhorn or Stoos.
There are range of transport options: - We can go by car, park in the city, do a walking tour and come back to Zurich. If you'd like to go to the Alps from Lucerne, I'd recommend this option; - We can go by train and after a walking tour you can enjoy Lucerne on your own: take a boat trip, have dinner in a local restaurant and come back to Zurich without a guide; - We can arrange to meet up in Lucerne and start the tour then.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
