My name is Karin. I am German and I came to Granada as a language student in 1994. I wanted to improve my Spanish at the University of Granada after a first professional education in Germany. I fell in love with this country and especially with the South of Spain, Andalusia. It is very rich in history and culture. I decided to stay and to study Tourism in Granada and Seville. At the same time, I began to work as a tour guide for cultural groups throughout Spain. I started guiding in Andalusia but soon I worked in other areas in Spain. I am a very curious person, I love to read and I was always interested in the history of persons, places and the way of life of the people. I have a guiding experience of more than 20 years. Up to the present moment I have done a lot of different tours, like tours with the historic Al-Andalus train throughout Spain, religious groups, pilgrimage tours to the tomb of Saint Jacob in Santiago de Compostela, incentive tours, gastronomic tours, botanical tours, etc. That's still part of my professional life. And as I love to do different tours and themes, I can look over a rich variety of knowledge and experience. This country offers an amazing variety of activities, culture and nature. Since 2015 I got the license as a local guide for Andalusia. That's the reason why I work more and more in Granada and its province. This area is a place of great historical and cultural interest, a real melting point of different races and cultures. I would like to share my fascination and impressions with you. I can offer different tours, stressing on different themes and visiting different places in Granada and its province. I can adapt it to your wishes. I combine my experience as a tour leader throughout Spain with my deep knowledge about local places and topics. I am convinced that it is a great advantage for you. Let me surprise you. . . hope to see you soon. - Degree in Tourism - TEAT (Sevilla) - Official license for guiding in Granada and Andalusia (License from the Government of Andalusia) - Member of AGIP (Association of official guides in Granada). For transport outside Granada, I only use licensed drivers with their authorized limousines.

We meet at the Plaza Nueva, right at the bottom of the Albayzin. A public bus brings us up into the heart of the Sacramonte. It is well known for its fantastic views of the Alhambra. A typical housing since ancient times is the cave. I will explain you more about it. I highly recommend the Cave Museum. It has a lot of helpful information. This quarter is known as the traditional gipsy quarter. They live hear since the 15 th century. I would like to guide you through this quarter on little paths that connect it with the Albayzin. The last is known as the old arabic quarter. We stroll through its narrow streets and learn about the typical houses in this area: the Carmen. They are like little paradises. From the Saint Nicolas Square you get a unique view of the Alhambra. This quarter has got a special atomoshere and history. I will recreate it for you. Slowly we will reach the Darro river in the valley and reach the crowded Plaza Nueva again. The tour ends at the old silk market
We start the tour at the central square Plaza Nueva. After a short introduction we take the public bus that brings us just into the heart of the Sacramonte quarter. We will have the opportunity to see the typical houses which are caves and a museum dedicated to this ancient housing form (optional). We use a path with no cars right in the middle of the quarter which will give us the possibility to enjoy wonderful views of the Alhambra. This path leads us directly into the next quarter, the Albayzin. It is known as the old arabic quarter which is the oldest part of Granada. I show you the typical houses, the Carmen. It's a little paradise and the word has an arabic root. Naturally we visit the amazing viewing point of the Saint Nicolas square. Our way through narrow streets down the hill leads us to the Darro river in the valley. I explain you interesting details about the special history of this quarter, that belongs to the World Heritage since 1994. Crossing Plaza Nueva we reach the former silk market.
