Hello from Granada!!! My name is Conchi, a native granadina Licensed Official Tour Guide. It will be a pleasure for me to show you the way to discover the Mystery, the Magic and the Beauty of Granada, my city… I was born and raised in this city. My family belongs to Granada for many generations ago, where We were even able to investigate our ancestors and heritage as a family. I'm an authentic "granadina" native which I consider very interesting in this job because I can mix my academic knowledge and my continuous recycling and improvement with all my personal experiences as well as those of my family. This tour is a perfect complement to your visit to The Alhambra Palaces. Do you know why is the Albaicin such a particular place? Do not worry, once I take you through some of the hidden narrow streets I will make sure you love it as much as I do. My ancestors were born in this Quarter centuries ago and I can still show you my Great Grandparents house, at the Albaicin, the hill origin of Granada. We will get lost in the maze of narrow streets, heritage of the old islamic Granada. We'll see "Carmen" the houses with gardens, the "Aljibes" old cisterns and the well-known Viewpoint of "Mirador de San Nicolás". At the City Center We'll see the Christian area after the Reconquest in 1492, such as the Cathedral or the Royal Chapel burial of the Catholic Monarchs. Downtown we could still see more Muslim remains as the "Alcaiceria" the Silk Market, or an XIVth Nasrid Caravansarie(Al-Funduk). We'll visit "El Realejo", the old Jewish quarter, when Granada by the muslin today a lovely andalusian neighborhood.
Absolutely fantastic tour. Not only was she great with our young girls she kept my husband fascinated (which is almost impossible to do). Her enthusiasm, knowledge, and obvious love of Granada and Spain shows. I highly recommend taking a tour with Conchi.
Conchi was an excellent tour guide. She was really knowledgeable and told us lots about the history of Granada, local customs and holidays as well as where to get the best ice cream! She tailored the order of the tour to help us stay cool on a hot afternoon. She was a very friendly and knowledgable guide and I would definitely book her again for a tour. The only thing that made this tour a 4 and not a 5 is that we had been hoping for a tour that really involved my 7 year old son and kept him excited about the sightseeing (we have been lucky enough to find this on previous tours elsewhere). While the stories and content were certainly tailored to him, Conchi forgot to keep playing the game which she had set him up with at the start to reward him for spotting things, so he lost a bit of enthusiasm as a result. We kept the game running ourselves, but it would have been nice for her to have kept it going too.
We'd visited the Alhambra before and wanted to see other parts of Granada, so this tour was perfect for us. Conchi worked with us to set up a meeting place and time that fit our ship's schedule and was there right on time. She took us through the central city, including a stop at the Corral del Carbón (a historic traders' inn near the Cathedral) before we walked up Albaicin Hill to explore the district and get great pictures of the city and the Alhambra. She arranged a stop at the Carmen de Los Geranios (Casa Max Moreau) where we could see a bit of what hides behind the walls at the top of the hill (and get a great view of the Alhambra). She told us about life in Granada today as well as talking about the history, and, of course, she took lots of group pictures of us to complement our selfies. :-) At the end of the tour, she brought us to the Plaza Bib-Rambla and suggested a few restaurants to consider (and some to avoid) before saying "adios". I really enjoyed our time with Conchi and highly recommend her as a guide for Granada.
Conchi showed us around the various neighborhoods of Granada and we had a wonderful morning with her. She knows the city so well, and clearly loves it too.
My second tour with Conchi, she is terrific: high energy, knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and funny -- more you cannot hope for! She explains the history of Granada, tells vivid stories of the characters who have molded and remolded this city, and you always feel her enthusiasm and love for her home town. Highly recommended!
Conchi guided my wife and I on a tour of the city center and Albaicin and then the Alhambra the next day. We enjoyed both tours very much. Conchi grew up here and was very knowledgeable of the local culture and history. We recommend her very highly.
