La Alpujarra: tradition in the southern of Sierra Nevada

Mariela filled in for Jose and did an excellent job. She was warn and friendly and was extremely knowledgeable about the area. She listened to our concerns and adjusted the tour to our needs. We were blown away by the ham curing facility. It was a wonderful experience and the tasting was great. We knew very little about this area and now we a much better understanding of the culture and lifestyle. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting this area.

Jose gave us a wonderful full day of touring. His knowledge of the towns on the route and connections with local people were indispensable. If we had been on our own, we could not have navigated the streets or seen even half of what he showed us. He chose a delightful restaurant for lunch. Jose was also flexible in accommodating our preferences: more walking, less shopping. The driver, Alfonso, was skillful in maneuvering through the twisty mountain roads and narrow town streets. Jose was prompt in responding to our initial request for a tour, but did not get back to us in response to some questions we had until the night before our departure. He was occupied in another tour. Overall, we had a wonderful time on the tour.

Jose is very knowledgeable and he knows the area well.

The Alpujarra consists of a group of small white villages perched on the mountain sides of the Sierra Nevada mountains outside of Granada. Jose Francisco was the perfect guide to the region which is his home. The tour started off at an ancient Roman bridge and continued touring several of the small villages which are very quite and very picturesque. We had lunch at a small restaurant with Jose and his excellent driver, then drove back to Granada along the beautiful mountain roads. All in all a special and memorable day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Jose took us to six different spots in the Alpujarra on a full day tour with his wonderful driver Javier. Jose not only was very patient with our needs, both he and Javier were well manored perfect gentlemen. The sites from the vistas in the White Villages were incredible, the town tours extremely intersting and he then took us to a wonerful place to have lunch. Jose was constantly pointing out and explaining local facts and history and took us to places we never would have found on ouur own. James P

José is an excellent guide. If you want someone to tour the La Alpujarre region - use him! He has a wealth of knowledge of the area as well as that of olives (since he grows them and lives in the area). His stories are interesting and he is very personable. José is very accommodating - willing to stop and explore what you wish. Would highly recommend this tour if you want something most tourists don't see. We also highly recommend using José. You won't be disappointed.
