I was born and raised very close to Bilbao, at the mouth of the river 52 years ago, and always lived here but for a year I lived in UK to finish my Marketing and Public relations degree, after three years studying in Bilbao. Passionate about the Basque Country essences, tradition, and hikes I became a professional and licensed tour guide in 2014, when I decided to change my life around and start doing what I really enjoyed, showing my city to the travelers visiting us, as if they were my friends. Basque Country means everything to me, history, people, architecture, tradition, sports, cuisine. . . . this is a unique place in the world to discover, with incredible contrast, with the mountains ending at the wild Cantabrian sea hitting the cliffs creating really picturesque sceneries. I want to show you the landscapes, the culture, the history, the architecture, and of course, the incredible gastronomy we enjoy daily . . . . let's hike the coast, the forests, the mountains, discover the delicious pintxos, the wine, and have some fun. Overview of your Bilbao tour
Tempranillo and oaky flavor is the first memory coming to my brain when I think of this amazing land, called Rioja Alavesa because it is still part of the Basque territory . If you think Spanish wine, your first thought will most likely be Rioja. This area in northern Spain is the most well-known of all the Spanish wine producing regions, and this tour will not only reveal the spectacular scenery, towns and villages, but will give you an insight into the various different vineyards and the variety of wines created here. I do consider myself a foodie, so every single year, during the harvesting time I visit the area for a weekend with my wife. I discovered that the most special wine tasting experience is given by the smallest ones, where they feel passion about what they do. Your Bilbao tour itinerary
We will set off at 930 from your hotel , to drive to the south during aprox 90 minutes, and during our trip we will discover how the scenery are changing from green and rocky area to a flat area where the vineyards are going to start appearing. At approximately 1100 we are visiting the first winery you chose with a wine tasting with typical local snacks and then we will drive to the second where at 1245 approx we will enjoy the second visit to another of your interest.From the smallest and most traditional, to the biggest and more modern I will give you any advice you may need. Once we know about the wine making process we will visit a charming medieval walled town, Laguardia where you will have time to enjoy a lunch at your leasure. After lunch and a day full of adventures and experiences we will drive back to Bilbao to arrive ideally at 1730 or 1800
