We love learning about the local culture when we travel. Horacio chose a smaller village for our experience and we were joined by 3-4 other small groups to visit an Embera Village...about a dozen visitors to enjoy a village of about 40-50 Indigenous people. We like to take small gifts and Horacio loved my idea of coloring/ activity books and crayons for the 15 children plus store bought cookies for the adults. A big hit, as January is the school holiday season. Our lunch was simple and yummy, boat drivers were safety conscious, villagers seemed glad to see us. There crafts are amazing and we recommend walking all the way around the market to admire before choosing to buy your basket or other craft to take as a souvenir. Horacio has a very good relationship with the locals and mutual respect was evident. Thank you for a wonderful experience, again!

This was our favorite experience in Panama! Horatio is extremely knowledgeable about everything Panamanian. We asked him about the economy, the schools and other things not related to the tour, and he freely gave candid answers. The Embera village is a "must visit" if you have time. We went by canoe (motarized) deep into the forest, swam under a waterfall, and spent time with the locals in their village. We learned a lot about their lifestyle. Book a tour with Horatio if you're in Balboa or Panama City!

8:30am - Leave the Hotel. 9:00am - Quick stop for gifts to the native. 9:30 am - Take the canoe to the waterfall. 11:00 am - Going to the village (explanations, dances). 12:30 pm - Traditional Embera Lunch. 1:00 pm - Walking around the "houses". 2:00 pm - Leave the Village back to the car. 3:30 pm - Back in the Hotel. The weather can change the order of some activities or delay the tour.
