This journey starts from Panama city at 7:30 a. m we drive to the bay of Portobelo to visit different beaches and Islands on the caribbean side of Panama full of Coral Reef, fish, nice and warm waters for snorkeling. It's an 8 hour tours and involves nature, history and culture. At the end of the snorkeling we are going to the town of Portobelo with Spanish forts and a lot of histories about pirates, slaves and atmosphere of the XVII and XVIII Century.
We really enjoyed the tour. We took a small boat to a small beach with great access to the reef and we saw a variety of wildlife. Juan Jose does a great impression of a male howler monkey and we were able to observe as he communicated with a near by group. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!
Juan was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the history of the canal. We had a great time snorkeling and exploring panama!
This tour was even better than I anticipated. Juan picked us up in a comfortable van and was a very safe driver, extremely pleasant and courteous and very knowledgeable about Panamanian history. We were also very interested in his perspective on current Panama, which he willingly shared in response to questions. The short boat ride was pleasant and the snorkeling excellent, with lots of living coral and fish. A guided walk around Portobello added another very worthwhile facet Overall a great day!
Juan is a terrific guide who speaks excellent English. He can answer detailed questions on the historical site of Portobello and talking with him during the trip makes the drive very interesting. Juan is also a certified rescue diver and can tailor the snorkel excursion to your individual skill level. We are advanced snorkelers so he went to some more difficult spots than normal. The reef snorkel locations are very good, IMO. Visibility was less than ideal on the day we were there. Tour is 5 star!
Juan provided a wonderful off the beaten path tour of Colon and Portobelo. Met at cruise port, Juan provided stories and information about the port area, Colon and the history of Panama. We drove along a coastal highway until we arrived at the dive shop. Our boat ride to the reef was beautiful. We spent a few hours roaming the reef -beautiful colors, fish and corals. We ate lunch at a restaurant on the water, visited UNESCO sight in Portobelo then headed back to port. I highly.recommend a day with Juan.
We had a fantastic time on our snorkeling tour. Juan was informative during the snorkeling portion as well as in the tour of Portobelo and shared general context on Panama during our drive to and from Panama City. We really enjoyed the snorkeling and being able to tailor the length of portions of the tour for what worked for our family.
