Overview of your Panama City tour

This morning you will be pick up by your naturalist tour guide, today we will be drive to the town of Gamboa where the chagres river meets the Panama Canal, Gamboa was built in 1911, during Canal construction. It was initially populated by "silver roll" (Afro-Antilleans and other non-US, non-white) workers and their dependents. Aboard and expedition boat to explore the Panama canal crossing the dredging divisiond and reach the gatun lake the lake is situated in the valley of the Chagres River the area was flotted to build the man made lake. Gatun Lake is an essential part of the Panama Canal which forms a water passage between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, permitting ship transit in both directions, from the dast boat we will be able to explore the islands of the lake looking for monkeys and sailing next to the huge ships of the Canal. On the way back visit the pipeline road for a nature walk and them we drive to clayton plaza for lunch (not included)

Highly recommend! We booked a private tour by Juan Jose C. in Panama and had an incredible experience. He was friendly, easygoing, it was enjoyable without ever feeling rushed, and he’s extremely knowledgeable and truly knows his stuff. He drove a clean, large, comfortable van. He took us to Monkey Island and everything was perfectly organized. He even went out of his way to help us find a nanny for my baby, which truly showed how caring and helpful he is. Juan is a great tour guide. The monkey adventure was a lot of fun. We saw three kinds of monkeys who came close enough for great pictures. On the boat ride back, we got to look up at the huge ships passing through Lake Gatun. The nature walk was a nice, flat walk with plenty of animals to see, including leaf cutter ant "highways". Juan spotted a toucan and a sloth as well for us.

Our guide Juan Jose was outstanding. He showed great empathy and kindness for the animals and seemed to know several monkeys and treated them like family. It was fascinating and a lot of fun. We’ve been to safaris in Africa and interacted with elephants in Thailand and this was equal if not better.

Our day with Jose was really great! He shared stories about Panama City and the Canal as we drove to the lake. We got aboard our shaded pings and had a wonderful adventure driving along the edge of the jungle looking for wildlife. It was so nice to have the boat all to ourselves so we could move around to get good vantage points. We saw 3 kinds of monkeys up close as well as a sloth, bats that were hanging onto a tree, and many birds. After our boat ride we had a nice stroll through the jungle where we saw beautiful trees, plants and more monkeys. Jose got us back to our cruise ship when we requested. It was a great day and Jose was a great guide!
