I start working as a guide 30 years ago, when I just got out of high school, dealing with sailors and yachters from all around the world. My job consisted of taking them around to the local officials to do their paper work in order to transit the Panama Canal. I also helped them find parts and supplies, linehandling there boats true the Canal. Years later, I stepped into another type of guiding, I started to drive a taxi and I usually offered my services at the local Hotels, taking the customers to places like Portobelo, San Lorenzo, Panama city and other places. I saw the necessity to Learn about these places, so I started buying and studying literature of the most visited sites in Panama, I made excursion almost all around the country. By the year 2000 with the arrival of cruise ships to the port of Colon 2000 and Cristobal, I started to offer my guiding services to the cruise ship passengers. I combined my passion for touring with my permanent job at the Panama Canal, I am a Panama Canal (the best goverment employer in the country) employee for almost 20 years. I born in Panama 49 years ago, I have lived all of my life in this bless country , married. I have six (6) kids (yes six!!!) four boys, two girls, love them all. I live in the country in a small town between Panama city and Colon. I believe that time is one of the biggest value a person have, for me guiding is not about the money, I love people and I love to take them around my country, at that moment I become an ambassador of Panama. My Joy is to know people enjoy my tour and all I did to make sure they get all that I promise to deliver and more, having a good time. Clemente has a deep knowledge of the history of Panama and about the canal. He timed our tour so we could see the first ship of the transit through the locks and brought us to a terrific local restaurant for lunch. Highly recommend
Clemente gave us a great tour of Panama. He timed the pickup so we could see the entire process of a ship going through the locks. The IMAX film at Miraflores was very good. His tour was very comprehensive - I felt like I got a really good feel of what Panama City has to offer. I was happy that the day neither tour we had time to visit the Canal Museum which provided so much great history on the canal. Then Clemente’s tour really brought everything we learned to life.
Clemente has all the positive qualities you expect in a tour guide. He has an amazing knowledge of the history, culture, and highlights of Panama City and environs. And he presents information in a way that is easy to understand and appreciate. In addition, he is fully prepared to accommodate those with mobility limits. Well done Clemente!
Excellent tour. Clemente is a terrific guide. He is very knowledgeable about the area, responsive to the particular interests of his guests, & very friendly. He customized our tour to give us exactly the experience we wanted as first time visitors to Panama but also considering relocating to the area.
Clemente was the perfect person to lead our day in Panama City. Starting with our planning messages, he was attentive, professional and punctual. The day he picked us up from the ship, he lead us on a wonderful, well rounded tour of all of the things that make Panama City special. We especially liked his attention to detail . We enjoyed seeing a few ships pass through the canal, we loved seeing the sloths and other wildlife on our hike, we learned about early Panama history at the National Park and Old Panama, and we enjoyed traditional Panamanian foods at a wonderful local restaurant. Clemente spent time sharing stories, history and facts about the Panama Canal and the US Canal Zone, took us over the bridge and toured the old base areas and headquarters. We enjoyed a walking tour of the colonial area of Panama City, including important squares, churches and the waterfront. He was a true blessing as our tourguude and we learned and saw so much. We highly recommend Clemente.
