Hello and Bienvenidos a Mexico! My name is Thalia, born and raised in Mexico City. Starting as an amateur naturalist from a young age and later on dedicating my school years to the study of life, I decided to become a biologist. The ocean and marine life had always fascinated me, so I decided to pursue my studies in that area and earned a Master's degree in Marine Ecology, specializing in marine mammal behavior. I have worked in many areas going from being a waitress to becoming a teacher, when as I was studying as was also a junior researcher. Later on, I entered the tourism industry working as a lifeguard and then as a guide and a travel agent. That's when I decided to become an official tourist guide certified by the Mexican Tourism Board. I grab every available opportunity to jump in a car, bus, train, or boat to travel. I have visited most of Mexico and have been to the USA, Canada, Cuba, Costa Rica and several countries in Europe. I enjoy sharing my experiences and teaching, therefore as I entered the world of tourism, I found the perfect opportunity to get in touch with other cultures, to teach and learn while having fun and respecting nature. Never a dull moment on my tours, always seeking for adventure, and trying to make the most out of every experience. My guests, become my friends. . . as we say in Mexico: Mi casa es tu casa! Very few places offer free dolphin-human interactions. Bahía de Banderas, where Puerto Vallarta is located, is one of those natural environments where bottlenose dolphins live year round. These great creatures have all the food and shelter they need, and believe it or not they enjoy playing with us. I actually know most of the dolphins and can identify them! They have embraced me as one their own, and I can swim happily on their side. I will let you know what to do, both on the boat and in the water. You'll be introduced to the family and witness how the dolphins freely play with everybody in the water. The dolphin swims are always conducted with respect and awareness. We do not feed, chase or do anything that might alter their natural behavior. We interact with them at their own invitation, so they decide if they are willing to play or not. The interaction cannot be guaranteed, but I'll do my best to make it happen! Swimming with wild dolphins is a life-changing experience!
Swimming in the wild with dolphins was an incredible experience. Thalia was a fantastic guide who was knowledgeable and supportive of our younger children who were a little nervous at first. Angel was an excellent captain. We are absolutely thrilled that we booked this experience!
Thalia was a wonderful tour guide! She knows her city and region so well, and more importantly, she is an expert on the Bahia de Banderas. She and the boat captain worked as one to get us close to the dolphins while still respecting them as wild animals. She was very knowledgeable and cares for the bay, the animals and her guests. We cannot say enough good things about Thalia!
