Dear guest welcome in my profile. My name is Barbara and I was born and raised in Milano such as my family who is Milanese since generations. I have been working as a registered tourist guide since 2002 and I enjoy planning tours in Milan and the surroundings for a sophisticated and demanding clientele. I conceive and design private bespoken tours in Milan for small groups about art, architecture, design, fashion and food. My motto is enjoy your life, enjoy Milano! I am an art historian who took her degree at the Catholic University of Milan. I do adore my profession because it gives me the chance of combing my passion for Milano, my strong interest in art and architecture and my love for foreign languages (English, German, Spanish) which I studied in U. K. , U. S. A. , Spain and Germany. I work as a personal shopper as well. Strolling around the wide historical centre of Milan you can see the remains of the Roman Circus and at the same time you can make out the highest skyscraper of the Italian peninsula, or discover outstanding mansions, hidden courtyards and beyond them unexpected beautiful gardens. Winding cobbled lanes lead you back to the medieval time and awake your phantasy to imagine how life looked like when Milan was a duchy and the maestro Leonardo da Vinci would work at the court of the duke Ludovico il Moro…. This is the very city where one of its most famous citizens - the painter Caravaggio - started his career about 1584, where G. B. Tiepolo painted his masterpiece at Palazzo Clerici in the 18th century, here you find the very square where the fascism was born and where it was painted the Kiss whose name inspired the Perugina Bacio chocolate…. Finance, design, fashion, food, industries, classical music, unforgettable works of art, the widest collection of engravings of Europe, horse races, the most exceptional selection of fashion shops of Italy, the Monza formula one car race, four house museums, the canals in the Ticinese district, the third largest football stadium of Europe …. . I'd like to guide you in Milano as a private guide to look more closely at the urban landscape because I would be pleased to share my curiosity and knowledge with you. I'd like to remind you that all the private guided tours I have published on my page are a little part of what Milan actually offers and I will be glad to design a private tour according to your interests, your needs and the time you decide to spend in Milano. Each of my private guided tour is addressed both to adults and children, can be as long as you wish and can include the temporary art exhibitions and the events connected to the design and fashion weeks. Moreover I have a good knowledge of the surroundings of my city and if you start your tour in Milan I could be your private guide in charming places like Como, Bellagio, Lugano, Monza, Bergamo, Pavia, Vigevano, in the winemaking hills of Franciacorta and Valpolicella …. . My private tours can include private transportation upon request which means I can provide a professional driver and a high quality vehicle registered for passenger transport. The only thing you have to do is just to get in touch with me. A presto! Registered Tourist Guide in Milan, Monza and Brianza Registered Tour Manager Degree in History of Art Personal Shopper Certificate as tourist guide for Food and Wine itineraries 2017-2024 Higher education and specialized studies in Religious Tourism I am not a driver but I can arrange transportation upon request.

The size of the Cimitero Monumentale is striking even when just looking from the outside. The Famedio dominates the entrance square and is the Memorial Chapel where the most worthy citizens of Milan are buried or remembered. During the private guided tour we will wander among the gorgeous tombs and monumental chapels to go through the historical events of Milan and its artistic history from Realism and Eclecticism, to Art Nouveau and Symbolism, from the 30ies to the Contemporary age. You will be impressed looking at the works of art of the most remarkable Italian sculptors and architects who worked for important industrial families like Campari (producers of the famous aperitif), Falck, Bocconi (founder of the University of Economics) or for the conductor Arturo Toscanini. In this graveyard is even buried Hermann Einstein, father of the physicist Albert. The tour is available every day except on Mondays.
Very interesting tour of the cemetery. Thanks Barbara!
We had a Wonderful tour of the Cimiterio Monumentale with Barbara. Her pre tour communication and patience with all our questions during the tour put us at ease. The tour lasted a bit over three hours and covered the history of the main building, the ground, monuments and stories of some of the people buried there. She connected the history of the Cimiterio to that of Milan as well the unification of Italy. She also discussed the Crematorium and The Jewish section. It was a great introduction to Milan.
Walking through the Milano Cemetery with Barbara was like walking with a wise friend. Last week I visited Milano Monumental Cemetery with the tour guide Barbara Q. It was an overwhelming visit: the cemetery is a magical spot and discovering it by Barbara's hand was the perfect combination. She has a passion for both art and history, and a deep understanding of culture too. Furthermore, she recommended me some picturesque places to taste coffee and Italian deli foods.
This tour with Barbara was exceptional in every way! Barbara met me at my hotel and we spent several hours together, one on one. She is caring and professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun to be with. I would love to have another tour with her, and I have recommended Tours by Locals to another TD. Thank you, Barbara! You are in the right job!

It's a walking tour, if the meeting point is at your hotel though, a taxi or private car may be required and in this second case I can provide a professional driver and a high quality vehicle registered for passenger transport to be booked in advance.
