You are all invited to visit Palmaria Island in the Portovenere Regional Natural Park by covering its charming footpaths, discovering a land of untouched fascination, walking amongst orchards, vineyards, olive groves and steep slopes, surrounded by the bright green of the maquis or by the dark and thick green of the holm-oak woods. The footpath cut across the coast sheer from the sea, swept by libeccio or mistral, and offer cliffs and inlets that have inspired painters and poets for centuries. 'The mediterranean is quiet wonderful and when the sun sets beyond the island of Portovenere, and all the sea is like heaving white milk with a street of fire across it, and amethyst islands away back, it is too beautiful' David Herbert Lawrence. You will perceive the beauty of this land far from the crowded tourist ways.
-We will get on a public ferry to Palmaria Island navigating in the Gulf of the Poets which inspired poets and painters for centuries. -We will hike on a circular route on the Island, and therefore we will have the opportunity to enjoy a number of different breathtaking views of promontories, cliffs, and picturesque bays. -At the end of hike we will rest in a cool winebar or in a café overlooking the waterfront of a small harbour, where we will watch silent the fishing boats leaning against the high walls of the houses and their plasters eaten away by salinity; just those houses that have sheltered their inhabitants from pirate incursions over centuries and which, even nowadays, shelter the small boats from the fury of the rough sea. -I suggest to take your swimsuit with you cause we will have the chance to take a cooling and restfull bath in the crystal waters of the Maritime Protected Area of Palmaria. -Our lunch time will be in the charming atmosphere of the medieval village of Portovenere

We will take a public ferry to Palmaria Island and later a taxi boat to Portovenere. In case of bad waves conditions we will not get on the ferry and we will get on a taxi to Portovenere. However this eventuality is very rare cause the navigation is in the well protected waters of the La Spezia Gulf.
