Enjoy an exciting excursion to "the land's end", with a touch of local life! PADMANABHAPURAM PALACE - the largest existing wooden palace complex, built from 16 century AD onwards. Once it was the capital of one of the richest South Indian Kingdoms. Its unique features include natural air conditioning, medicated shining floors, large dining rooms to serve lunch for 2000 brahmins and more. KANYAKUMARI - southern tip of India's main land where three seas meet, the Bay of Bengal, Arabian sea and Indian Ocean. A very popular pilgrim centre for Hindu and tourists. VIVEKANANDA ROCK MEMORIAL - built on a rock a few meters away from the mainland on the Bay of Bengal, dedicated to Swamy Vivekananda, a Hindu philosopher who took the message of Indian Hindu philosophy to the world. Also there is a shrine of "devine feet" of the Virgin Goddess. MAHATMA GANDHI MEMORIAL, built by the side of the sea where the "Sacred Ashes " of Mahatma Gandhi was kept before its immersion in the sea. Join me for a unique experience!
Your Kollam tour itinerary
- I meet you at your hotel lobby recommended at 07 00 am and drive for about 3 hours to Padmanabhapuram palace - 1 hour and 30 min. visit. - Then, drive for about one hour to Kanyakumari. On arrival, we will stop for lunch. Then, we proceed to take a boat jetty to Vivekanda Rock. (1 hour there including boat rides 5 minutes each way) - After returning, we will visit Gandhi Memorial (15 minutes) and finally the Kanyakumari temple (45 minutes). - Return to Kollam (3 hours and 30 minutes), or drop off at Trivandrum airport or Kovalam ( 2 hours, 15 min. ). **Please be aware: All monuments visited require to be entered without footwear on.
