Berlin is a city of constant changes - come and see it with me! I'll show you the city in a less touristic, more authentic way, with a strong focus on history and memory, while also exploring what's happening nowadays: contrasting the changes in society and culture (and maybe even food if you would like!). A bit about me: I have a strong multidisciplinary background. I came to Berlin 7 years ago for a PhD in Neuroscience, focusing on Psychiatry. However, it's not just my studies that have kept me here. The city's rich history, internationality and unparalleled sense of freedom have all captured my heart. In addition to Neuroscience, I also have a great passion for history and culture, and I'm a post-doctoral researcher in memory studies, researching the history of the place where I work, the hospital, Charité. I love communication with people, guiding, history, and Berlin! I am an official Berlin tour guide (BBS), with a focus on Jewish history (but not only!), and I also give tours in the New Synagogue in Berlin.

Berlin is a city shaped by historical upheavals, and we'll discover them together on this tour! From swampland to Prussia's capital under the Hohenzollern dynasty, through the glittering 1920s Weimar era, to the Cold War division marked by the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, and finally to reunification. Of course we'll also cover the dark period of the Nazi rule and explore visible remains from the time. In this intensive exploration through central Mitte, I will take you to the must-see sites while sharing the historical context and providing relevant spatial orientation as to where we will be standing. We'll be sure to discuss Berlin's contemporary culture and conclude our day together giving you practical tips so you can make the most of your stay.
