Hi, I’m Sara — Berliner by choice and a passionate storyteller of the city’s history. Trained as an historian and an archaeologist and working as a professional tour guide, I have dedicated my career to uncovering the layers of Berlin’s past. I fell in love with the city at first sight more than twenty years ago. Its uniqueness, creative energy, and powerful history immediately captured me. Very soon I realized that you cannot truly understand — or love — Berlin without exploring its recent past, which makes it one of the most extraordinary cities in the world. Berlin is a city shaped by responsibility and transformation. It has lived through two World Wars and the Cold War, events that deeply marked its identity. Perhaps for this very reason, it has become the most unconventional and open-minded city in Germany. I love sharing Berlin’s story with visitors. My tours combine historical knowledge with personal perspectives gathered not only from books, but also from conversations with people who witnessed the events that shaped the city in recent decades. Through these stories, Berlin reveals itself as a place of resilience, creativity, and constant reinvention.

A journey that goes far beyond the tragedies of the 20th century to explore the deep roots of a city rich in history and contradictions. Too often the visitor coming to the city focuses exclusively on the two most famous and dramatic periods in Berlin's history, Nazism and the Cold War. However, to truly understand Berlin, it is essential to trace its origins, which extend long before these events, to the very foundations of the city and its development during the Prussian era. We will discover how this city went from a modest medieval community to one of the most powerful capitals in Europe during the Industrial Revolution (and a socialist and comunist city as such) to ultimately become the epicenter of the Nazi tragedy. We will explore the historical premises that led to the events that marked the twentieth century, analyzing not only the rise of Adolf Hitler, but also the cultural, political and social context that made this rise possible.
We will visit the oldest area of the city: The Museum Island The Cathedral The Prussian Royal Palace rebuilt under the direction of Franco Stella The Gendarmerie and the Armory Frederick's II' Bebelplatz with the Opera House and the Library (site of the burning of books by the Nazis) The University The Hackescher Markt and the Hackesche Höfe End of Tour in front of the beautiful Sopienkirche
