Dear Traveler, "Ich bin ein Berliner!" John F. Kennedy's famous words doubtless apply to me. I was born in West-Berlin's American Sector in February 1971, and I grew up in the British Sector. In the French Sector, I went to school, and, moreover, political developments after the Berlin Wall was built forced parts of my family to live in East-Berlin. To see them, we had to cross the border, which I did many times until the Wall fell in 1989. From 1991 to 2015, I served in the German Air Force. Therefore, my tours focus on Germany's, Prussia's, and Berlin's history, politics and politico-military affairs. I would be more than happy to provide a broad spectrum of information about Germany's military from 1640 until today. I began to provide Berlin tours in 2001. It started with military colleagues and friends. Since 2015, I have been working as a professional tour guide. Since both cities' history is strongly connected, I am also offering tours in Potsdam. You will be truly impressed by spending some hours in this beautiful city. Potsdam is much more than the two world-famous palaces Sanssouci and Cecilienhof (Potsdam Conference 1945). Also impressive is the Bridge of Spies (Glienicker Brücke), which connects Berlin and Potsdam. My understanding of being a professional ToursByLocals guide is that I am doubtless willing and capable to offer a comprehensive service. As a matter of course, I can arrange your visit of museums, shows, and other events. Moreover, I wrote several research papers about transatlantic security.

Alex was wonderful! I messed up the time, arrived early, he rushed to meet us (totally my fault) and off we went. Saw so many things that I know we wouldn’t have thought about on our own. He helped us experience the local subway and train . His local recommendation for lunch was as great! I highly recommend him!
Alex is an extremely knowledgeable guide. I will definitely book another tour next time I'm in the area, because there is so much more to learn. It's phenomenal how much history we learned in such a small period of time. He offered excellent suggestions for additional things to do and fantastic places to eat. Die Führung war ausgesprochen kurzweilig. Alex ist ein ganz toller Guide mit fundiertem Wissen und kann für sowohl Erwachsenen als auch für Jugendliche packend erzählen. Wie viel Geschichte wir in so weniger Zeit gelernt haben, war wirklich unerhört, aber es gibt noch so viel mehr zu lernen. Wenn wir wieder in Berlin sind, buche ich mit Alex sicher wieder, da ich eine zu kurze Tour gebucht habe. Er gab uns tolle Empfehlungen und Ratschläge für zusätzliche Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants mit fantastischer deutscher Küche. Er hat die Tour zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis gemacht.
I can highly recommend Alex. He is super knowledgeable and cares a great deal about making the tour personal, enjoyable and informative. We saw and learnt a lot more than we expected. Personally he is very nice and it is fun to walk around with him. Communication and coordination was very easy and to the point. He also provided tips for activities and restaurants outside of the tour. Overall I was very happy I chose him and I would book a tour with him anytime.
Alex was a wonderful tour guide. He managed to keep both the adults and children entertained during the entire tour. The information he shared was wonderful and was not necessarily the history that most of us from the USA have read about. I would 100% book another tour with him. Bonus: in advance we asked him for a lunch recommendation. He took it upon himself to book us a reservation and he walked us to the restaurant to ensure that we found the place. 10 out of 10 rating.
Alex is an amazing guide! He guided our international team for 2h through the main parts of the city, without being heavy on historical facts but sharing a lot of anecdotes and stories around buildings, places and streets. Time passed extremely quickly, and nobody actually realized the distance we walked that day. Next time we host an international delegation, we'll come back for sure! :-)
Alex's tour was just what we hoped for. Being in Berlin on business, we only had a short window. Alex made the most of our 2 hour tour. He is incredibly knowledgeable in history and is personable and fun, as well. I highly recommend taking a tour with Alex.
