My chers amis, Bonjour and welcome to Paris! Paris is a fabulous city justly described as an international capital of fashion, gastronomy, romance, art and so on. My personal love story with Paris started when I first visited France being a law student from Saint Petersburg taking part in « Chantiers bénévoles », a volunteer project consisting in a restoration of a medieval castle in the South of France. I found almost immediately that French history, heritage and people are so interesting, that I should move here forever. So, I came to France, studied history and art and obtained a diploma which enabled me to receive my official tour guide license (« carte de guide-conférencier ») in 2013. Since that, I really appreciate being a professional guide. From my childhood, I love to spend time in museums with their particulate atmosphere and charm. I love as well to share my passion for art and make the wonders of French History come alive in front of your eyes, as I take you on tour. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Parisian cemetery Pere Lachaise was established 220 years ago and still operates. It is said to be the most visited cemetery in the world. Some of the tombs of this romantic necropolis are impeccably groomed, others dilapidated and abandoned, while its tree-lined avenues are both overcrowded, peaceful and seductive. A tradition of strolling (hiking) through cemeteries appeared in Europe at the beginning of the 19th century, when the best selling book on the continent was a romantic novel by German writer Goethe, The Sorrows of Young Werther. With this tour, I invite you to follow this tradition.
This tour starts near the metro station Pere Lachaise. We will see the graves of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Isadora Duncan, Frederic Chopin, Vivian Denon (the first director of The Louvre), Marcel Proust, Antoine Parmentier (no French fries without him), Honoré de Balzac, Demidoff-Stroganoff (Russian family), «Father Makhno» (Ukrainian anarchist), Moliere, Duc de Morny (French statesman, half-brother of Napoleon III), Pozzo di Borgo (Napoleon's Arch Enemy) and Eugene Delacroix (he created the painting Liberty Leading the People). NOTA BENE: Pere Lachaise is a hill. So, please, put on your most comfortable shoes for this tour.
