All you wanted to know about Paris during the Second World War. What exactly happened, how people lived during this time, what the Nazi did in Paris and how the Liberation took place? Propaganda, food rationing, fashion, the resistance. . . learn about the every day life during the four years of Nazi occupation. This tour is a good complement if you plan visiting the D-Day beaches, and also for students learning about this period.
This exceptional visit starts in the jewish quarter (The Marais) near the Holocaust Memorial before we make our way forward to the HQ of the French police which became one of the main spots for the resistance and the liberation of Paris in august 1944. I will show spots that still bears the marks of the shootings during the war. You will hear about Charles de Gaule and resistance leader Jean Moulin, but also about the role of fashion designer Chanel and the American artist Josephine Baker! After passing the HQ of the Nazi governor, this tour will end near the Concorde square where the Nazis would march and where numerous works of art stolen from jewish family was sorted and stored before send to Germany. . . During this visit you will see many original fotos I have selected to highlight this troubled period. You will have possibilities to take pictures if you wish. This tour can be customized with a day trip to the D-Day beaches in Normandy. For customizing this tour, please inquire for a quote
